I like derailing the thread with praise towards a poster.

I agree about the endearingness.

You know.... I find it rather odd how it's considering perhaps a little odd and awkward to suddenly praise someone in public (whether online or offline, on a forum or elsewhere)... and yet as negative as it is considered to suddenly insult someone in public it isn't considered odd or awkward. I understand overfriendliness can be weird but I think if praising were more common than it is it would be easier for people in general to be able to distinguish between genuine sincere heartfelt praise of an individual and creepy over-friendliness.

Yeah, I know, I'm derailing and I just admitted to liking it but the amount of fucking times a derail happens due to insults rather than praise and it's considered normal (everywhere, online and offline, not speaking about AF specifically whatsoever), I just found this interesting.

I suggest this derail end now though because I fucking hate splitting threads and it fucking well better not happen over this because it doesn't happen over insults very often!!!

I should trust my judgement of someone's character more often! You seem an even nicer guy than I imagined! And I don't consider myself being hasty here because after publicly praising and reaching out to you just now you seemed to open up more personally than I generally tend to notice (I'm sure you do whenever someone spurs you to like I hope I just did just now ) I mean, sure I don't know you very well but it does indeed seem that you are indeed lovely. And... I really think I am a better judge of character than I thought I was. Normally I consider myself a good judge of character when it comes to my close friends but perhaps my character judging skills extend beyond that

I don't agree. Privilege in this context is not talking about the people themselves, but rather, about social attitudes towards social groups. When I'm talking about white privilege in America, I am not talking about whites in America. I am talking about the social attitudes and power structures that accord different treatment to the different races.

You're clearly not cognizant of the moderating process here. Aside from crap like porn or spam, banning a regular, posting member such as yourself requires a quorom.

As for condescension, perhaps if the doctor doesn't like the medication he ought not prescribe it so much himself?

Sorry, just to iterate, we may have that power but we won't ever use it unless rules are infringed. Being disagreeable or having a different POV certainly isn't against the rules, so rest assured being in a heated argument won't land you in ban-ville.

Trust me, I was only replying to someone who stated that a moderator cannot ban me. I am an one of three admins on another forum and know how it works.......Have a good one.

Except that that is not what I said. Perhaps next time you could include the qualifiers? Or, alternatively, actually read the entire post prompting your reply.

I agree with everything apart from the bolded parts. And I find the underlined part especially profound to a memorable extent.

I'd consider Christopher Hitchens more than merely "sometimes great" but as expert as he is when it comes to some of his opinions I still disagree with him on others and after all, like all experts, I picture him as a mammal [emoji6]
