Judi. Don't play the game. He'll suck you into his rabbithole and beat you with experience.
Just tell him that there is no "him" because "him" didn't write or inspire any bible or qu'ran.
Otherwise we're all subconsciously agreeing on the underlying premise - by wasting our time arguing hypothetical specifics in the first place.

Running around in Genesis, all flustered; "What? I can't see you...Where y'all at? What'd y'all do?"
He was approaching the situation with them as His children. Parents do it, they approach their children many times knowing the wrong they did without the children knowing they know. I almost confused myself.

Wow. You gleaned all of that from Scripture, huh?
If you say so, GC.
It clearly reads that they hid themselves from from His presence, but...potato/po-tah-to, I guess!
Not the only time Biblical God appears to "find out" stuff, or doesn't seem to know what happens next;
But, I suppose your explanation of "No...He's just kidding." makes more sense.

See...theists interpret what they choose out of it (see gc"s post) but an atheist uses the word "needed" and dripshit loses his mind.
Lmao. Classic.

Apparently it was a permanent resting because he's done little else since. Well, to his credit, he has caused mass genocide and spread panic everywhere. But....All that time on his hands and he can't even be bothered to eradicate disease or end hunger or even show his face to all his sheeple.
So really, does an entity that's supposedly omni everything really need to rest at all?
God rested on that day because the Jewish fella who made that shit up ran out of ideas...
"Er...stars, planets...light...man and woman...animals...erm....erm...he had a rest. Yeah. Yeah, that was it."

So, it doesn't say he "needed" to rest, but the fact that he rested shows a need for it, otherwise he wouldn't have done it.
And if God didn't need rest he did something unnecessary and a perfect being doesn't do unnecessary things.

Who cares what it says, really? Each Christian just writes their own totally individual bible it seems. It hardly matters what it said in the first place, or what the authors intended it to mean. And since there is no right or wrong answer, anything goes.

Don't listen to dripshit, he's just a putz.
Here's a professional asshole making excuses for his fucking god.

You see, when you believe this bullshit you have to make excuses for its stupidity. Such is the basis of apologetics.

Well, whether approaching the content from a non-fictional perspective, or simply it regarding it as a cast of characters, that there are a few issues that really aren't subject to interpretation. Biblical God's omniscience is one of them. He's not.
And if He's not omniscient, it goes without saying that He's not exactly omnipotent, doesn't it?
I understand why theists would want to believe that He is, but it seems that they do themselves more of a disservice by stretching the definition of interpretation PAST it's limits, into flat-out ignoring or lying. I would think that it would present more of an edge; acknowledging that the God character simply knows more and has more capabilities than anyone, rather than purport him as ALL-everything makes Biblical God appear slightly more realistic and allows the Bible story line to move along/make more sense as a whole.
But, hey...what do I know? I'm just a dumb heathen.

Indeed yes, for those of us who actually care about what the words say, there are certain things that are ridiculous to deny. Yet deny them they do. It's ironic that atheists are often more interested in what the words say than Christians.
After some conversations, I've come to the conclusion that certain Christians have replaced the entire bible with "the golden rule". They pretend this is some profound and unique idea, and explain away all the gibberish that surrounds it.
I'm quite happy to take good ideas away from books. The thing is, I only need to read it once. I don't need to keep reading the same book every day, and to worship the supposed author, in order to benefit. And if the rest of the book is shite, I don't defend it all either.

This is how they read the bible. Just add in only the stuff that you agree with and make all the rest evil! Easy!
Apologetics has been doing it since day 1.
