A little bummed...last day of vacation.
Back to the salt mines, tomorrow! Oops! I meant... (September 25, 2016 at 5:10 pm)Thena323 Wrote: A little bummed...last day of vacation. Did you go anywhere nice, or by "vacation" you just mean spending time at home?

Hoping it's a great day for you, ma'am.

The original plan had been to visit New Orleans, then I'd decided to accompany a girlfriend on her trip to Guatemala. Real life expenditures wound up causing me to have to defer plans of going away at all, for the time being. My sons are both in college now; one's a sophomore, and the youngest just started his freshman year. I still owe a considerable sum of tuition money combined, and it ain't gonna pay itself. I'll actually be picking up a second job here shortly. I spent my vacation researching other gigs that I can work in with the hours at my current job/other commitments, and helping out my folks. My pop's not doing that well, so I spent a lot of time with him. And got some extra rest, which I'll be needing. It wasn't a bad vacation at all, actually. Definitely better than the salt mines!
Sorry your father's ailing, hon.

Cold.
New England has seasons, just no transition between them. 2-3 days ago, it was in the mid 80s and humid. It barely hit 60 today, and it's almost as dry as Mars. My feet are freezing. We might get a frost tonight.

Yeah, it's cool enough for me that I had to put on a sweater. Guess next week we will have to start turning the heat on.

Aww, well at least you had a nice break anyway. Hope everything turns out ok with the tuition and your Dad @Kevin and Nymph - Same thing over here in Old England. Autumn has come on really suddenly the past couple of weeks, we have a violent thunderstorm and then it's been cold ever since (anything below 15 degrees Celsius is "freezing" to me, I think that about 60 in American temperature). Mom is nervous to turn on the heating too since we've currently got no hot water and the boiler it rattling.

Thanks, Thump. Such is life, ain't it? His particular illness caused a slow decline over a couple of decades. He's had a good run, and is blissfully unaware that he can't actually do much anymore. It could be much worse. |
