Define objective truth. Please give an example of an objective truth.

This was asked for in page 1 and has been dodged for 9 pages. Don't hold your breath.

So I looked at the last 9 pages and the only thing I can find is that you admitted that "rule" was a typo for "ratio" that you somehow couldn't correct. Rule and ratio are no where a typo. So much for honesty.

On the first page towards the bottom:
@FatAndFaithless, "conformity with fact or reality" source below. My apologies i should have been more clear

Along with another apology ^ Smile
If you don't care enough to pay attention or accurately cross examine that's fine, but don't participate. And yes it was a typo, not concerned if you don't beleive me.

When people ask you to define objective truth, it doesn't usually mean they're asking what the actual words mean.  People here have good vocabularies.

They want you to define exactly what fact is, or reality-- how would you know it if you saw it, why do you think there's any objective truth?

1 step at a time, laying out the groundwork atm.

"Something tells me that SDC is not questioned or does not hear that he/she is incorrect to often. We keep getting the "but you don't understand me" or "that's not what I meant" response."

That's called intilectual honesty, lol. Like i said i'm not above correction or education, that's why you whitness me ask for clarification and admit when i'm wrong. I don't see anybody else here admiting there wrong after i point out blatent and self defeating statements. If anything you guys should jump at the chance to prove me wrong because intilectual honesty dosn't come around often.

Also i would like to apologise to @Whateverist for text lauging at you. It's apperant i have been using the wrong word to describe what i've been trying to say. Smile

HOWEVER! It doesn't defeat the point.

"Let's say the principle of non-contradiction is an objective truth"

Are you kidding?
" According to Aristotle, first philosophy, or metaphysics, deals with ontology and first principles, of which the principle (or law) of non-contradiction is the firmest. Aristotle says that without the principle of non-contradiction we could not know anything that we do know."
http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/aristo...radiction/

"So what? What follows from that, because even if those statements are valid, it has no real theological implication. Where is this discussion headed?"

One topic at a time, you can't jump conclutions like that. This thread pertains to the question of "is there objective truth".
No more immaterial truth, just objective truth?  Progress, lol.  Maybe, soon, it'll just be "truth", eh? At this rate 20 pages will be spent on the -super- deep question of "does truth exist".

I'm paying plenty of attention. Yet another evasion.

Soldat du Christ : "...do you not believe that non material things exist? For example gravity? Mathematics? Laws of logic? Truth is fact, by definition. Do you not believe in facts? These are all in fact immaterial."

Logic is immaterial? Logic is a function of the human brain which is material.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

I said the "laws of logic", for example the law of non contradiction.

The human brain is a function of logic which is immaterial...And saying that is just as meaningless as what you asserted.
