You almost lost me at Haight, my brain then plugged Ashbury and all I could head was the Dead and sitar.

Do I have to limit it to morality only? How about life in general, 1B,2A,3B,4B. I don't have a response for 5.

I'll check out the video later, to see if that alters my answers. I just went by your précis so far.

Yeah, I know. Got confused this time somehow, though.

Interesting that you have only Fairness/reciprocity at the top of your heap, with Care/harm lower down on the same level as In-group/loyalty and Authority/respect while leaving Purity/sanctity out altogether.  You may just be a conservative atheist, my friend.

A A B B C for me.

Care/Harm: Really, on some level, isn't this the entire fucking point of morality?
Fairness/Reciprocity: Really, just the logical growth of Care/Harm.
InGroup/Loyalty: Okay in small doses, but can easily become a very dangerous thing indeed.
Authority: The way I see it, trusting in authorities is okay if you've scrutinised them beforehand and have found them reasonably trustworthy. That said, there are very few in power who actually are.
Purity: Is for drinking water, not people.

I have the same outlook on everything you just said except the ingroup loyalty.

I consider my ingroup to be my family and my loyalty pretty unshakeable these days, pretty much.  The members of my family are the only people who could not talk to me for over a month then ask me to drive them somewhere for no petrol money or anything and I'd be very happy to do it.

And obviously most people in a family rely on some sort of ingroup loyalty along these sort of lines.

Just to clarify the fact I put a high importance on ingroup loyalty doesn't mean I easily associate with groups.  It's actually the opposite, I really don't get supporting football teams or being proud of your nationality.  But with the group I do identify as being a part of which is my family I have a fuck load of loyalty because my family have provided so much for me.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

I just watched the video. Fascinating!

The part at the end sounds just like my passionate insistence that morality is entirely subjective. There aren't good and bad actions. There are judgements of actions. You need to try and convince people of why your system is better. What are you trying to achieve? Why is that important? How are you achieving it? The biggest problem is to simply assume anyone who doesn't agree with what you think morality (broadly) is, must be excluded from the discussion. You enter an echo chamber. This is why I always start from first principles.

Coming back to the fifth area, purity, I'm still rather confused. It's pragmatic to feed your body with healthy, "pure" things, and to do wholesome activities. This doesn't seem to have much to do with morality, but rather managing your health. I find the concepts of purity and sanctity to be dogmatic; labels which are put on certain things in order to remove them from criticism or discussion. Maybe there's more going on here than I'm understanding.
