I love film noir -- especially Bogie. I don't smoke, though, so I'll just blow bubbles or burn a couple of incense sticks, or something.

The main takeaway I'm getting from LR's contributions to this thread is that LSD is a hell of a drug.
to OP
No I do not believe in karma or reincarnation. Though I don't see why these two things MUST be connected. Are you basing this off of Buddhist or Hindu texts? What if those texts are wrong and karma CAN exist without reincarnation or vice versa? Also how does a belief in karma or reincarnation equate to a belief in god? Where exactly are you closing that gap? What if karma is some universal force that needs know intelligent intervention behind it? What if reincarnation is just some natural process like photosynthesis or the water cycle? More importantly, what the hell is your point...?
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.
It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love. Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. One day however it will be you that will realize that by doing this you are not getting anywhere. Not only that but you also will realize that this physical dimension can not solve the main human problem such as the permanent peace of mind. I prefer more to exercise my mind by challenging other people intellect. 2) If karma exist then it need reincarnation. Suppose Mr X kill 50 people. One life would not be enough to pay for his crimes so he will have to be born again and again and suffer what those 50 people suffer. 3) If you don't like to call God that entity that run the karma system you may well call any other name you like but someone must be there to witness what goes on and correct the imbalance. Now why would I even want "permanent peace of mind"? I thrive on challenges and ongoing learning. I'm also not the least bit interested in eternal life, so your philosophy contains nothing that I actually want. Perfect contradiction Astreja. 1) You say..........I thrive on challenges and ongoing learning............. By doing this something within you tell you to go ahead in search for peace of mind. Where else this search would lead you then? You never thought about that Astreja, did you? 2) What about eternal life. How do you know that? How do you know that once you leave your dead body and your consciousness see the real McCoy you are not interested anymore? That is exactly how I imagine death -- Timeless insentience. Quote:Every night in the dreamless phase of sleep I am unconscious, totally unaware of surroundings or self. The "real McCoy" is conspicuous by its absence. Wrong again Astreja. As far as your body is alive the consciousness is stuck inside your body so when your body sleep your consciousness is also stuck in that slumber. In this way you come to the conclusion that once you die it will be the same. NDEs already show that that is not the case. Once your physical body die your consciousness separate and the real I will be as awake as you never dream about being free from the "chains" that force it to be stuck inside a body. But don't worry too much Astreja. Everything will get more and more clear as you make some real progress. |
