Why would it?
It's not; I simply gave a summary of the news story that I pulled off the news wire (AP, I think.) By the way, that's who mentioned the fact that this family was Catholic, the free press! Or, don't you believe in a free press?!
P.S. When 4 children perish in a house fire, then, yes, I think that everyone has the right to ask, "Why?"

I have never harmed anyone, do not have a criminal record of any kind. But, yes, people dying (especially, children) unnecessarily does anger me. I do have a tendency to go on occasional rants about it. Sometimes, I even complain to my elected representatives!!

The difference between the media mentioning their religion and YOU is that they didn't take it and run batcrap crazy with it like you did. You have made all sorts of generalizations and have leveled accusations at religious people for. no. reason.
Sometimes you need to learn to let shit go. Not every person who is religious is bad, stupid, ignorant or an asshole. Quit lumping religious persons in the same category. This shit is getting old and honestly, being a logical person, you should know better.

Can you explain why you think it is clickbait instead of saying that people think it is? The thread title is a clear news headline and the OP contains a link to a news story about exactly what the thread title says. Doesn't look like clickbait that falls under our rule.

Usually here, the media gives somewhat gruesome details, but no mention of the victyms religion, race, political affiliation et al.
I do find the association that OP did with religion.... disturbing. to say the least.

Okay I withdraw my protest (to be fair I formed my original post as a question)
But I will point out as everyone else on this thread. His that his attempts to link this to tragedy religion does seem more like a borderline excuse to demean people then a issue of cause. But that horse has kicked to death.

Reread my OP! All that I did was to post a link and include information from it!! (This is, after all, the "News & Current Affairs" subforum, isn't it?!!) It was other individuals who started making accusations against me, some of which are offensive and false, such as that I was "poking fun" at dead children or saying that "they deserved it". What a bunch of HORSE SHIT! I never said such a thing, NOR did I even imply such!!!
As for religious people being dumb, all that I mentioned is that religion is a "drug" (true), that is is a sickness (also true), but that some individuals can handle the cognitive dissonance better than others can (also true). That's all that I said; I do not recall saying that "every person who is religious is bad, stupid, ignorant or an asshole". If you can find where I did, please post it; otherwise, please retract your claim!!

Indeed, I do! I remember well September 11, 2001; I remember exactly where I was, and that Day will be forever etched in my mind. And, yes, as an atheist, there can be NO peace between Us (well, at least, me) and organized religion. In fact, if I had my way, people who believed in God could not hold political office, be on juries, be doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc., etc. That's how I feel, and in a 1,000 years, I bet, belief in God will be no different than belief in fairies and/or unicorns.
And, so, I hate religion, and what it does to human beings. And, yes, while I admit that I may have overreacted on this one, I still bet that the Dad there in the video did not have a single smoke alarm in that home, and I wondering what his explanation will be for that one! And, so, stay tuned!
What is wrong with you? Innocent children and a mother just got burned to death in a house fire, you sociopath! What does this have to do with Sep 11???? What do THEY have to do with Sep 11???? They are children and a mother!
You seem absolutely giddy about this tragedy. And anxious at the opportunity to bash this family and the husband/father who just lost his home and his wife and children! All because you want an opportunity to make a point - to solidify your bigoted opinion that a particular group of people you don't like, are inherently stupid.
You just can't wait to sit on your high horse, point your finger at this heartbroken family who just went through the worst thing a person can ever possibly go through, who's children and mother just died horrible deaths, and accuse them of being idiots because of their title as Catholics. That is absolutely insane to me, and I can't understand that.
I know bad people, cold hearted people, people without humanity, etc, exist. But I have never actually heard from one first hand. I have never spoken to anyone with this amount of blatant hate and blatant disregard for humanity, ever in my life. This truly hurts my heart, and this is the last time I will address this person.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I have had a lot of contact with the far right in America over the last 30 years of my life; in fact, my best friend is a far right religious nut, who wants to abolish all welfare, unemployment benefits, social security and medicare. (Yes, no kidding!) And, so, the mentality of these people is that there should be NO interference from the government in people's lives, other than law enforcement. And, I find those POVs to be absolutely repulsive.
When I read it, this news story rubbed me the wrong way, but I would have let things be, if not for the accusations that the Board started making against me, some of which are patently false and offensive, such as I was claiming that "they deserved it". I have NEVER claimed that, and I have NEVER thought that!! Admittedly, when I posted my OP, I was pissed, and I suspected that the family in question were far-right religious nuts, but I did NOT state that in my OP! It only came up after people started making accusations against me, some true (admittedly, I was thinking it, but I had not yet written it! And, so, some of you were "reading" my thoughts at that point!), but some false. Maybe I should have just dropped it right then and there and made-up some excuse to make it all go away.
But, yes, I cannot stand people like Ron Paul, nor I can stand the religious right, and if this tragedy had nothing to do with either of those religious, political currents in America today, then I humbly and profuse apologize!! But, if Dad did have the opportunity to put smoke detectors in his home and/or if he knew of government assistance to do so but simply refused it because of his far right persona (much like my dear old mom refused "free & reduced lunches" for me and my sister, even though we qualified for it), then, yes, he's an asshole in my book!!
