The belts are made up of people's from all nations and they even have their own patois. Accents also vary from one settlement to the next, though it can get a bit muddled with travelers back and forth.
They put a lot of work into the details of this show. I'm hoping this indicates that Syfy is making a legit effort to become a real sci-fi network.

I considered it as well. But, I don't think it would fly in a professional environment.

I have just started to watch the first series, seems good so far, nice touches like "Belters" not being able to handle Earth gravity. So far so good...
