What food discoveries have you made recently?
It can be good or bad. :-)
Hm, interesting.
Maple syrup on scrambled eggs and bacon was pretty good when I tried it.
The other day I made a regular Mexican burrito (with black beans, cilantro rice, pico, and cheese) except I used shredded bbq brisket instead of the traditional meats, and that was delicious.
...Can't really think of anything else right now.
Oh, pizza with goat cheese as the spread, caramelized onions on top, a drizzle of balsamic reduction, and topped with fresh basil leaves. Amazing. But it was a recipe I found, not my own creation.

It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Not sure If I've mentioned it before, but mashed boiled egg and vegemite on a sanger go well.
Sanger = sandwich in case you don't know.
I wish more non-Aussies would try vegemite, it's so good.
I just had a cup of tea and vegemite on toast, so yummy.
The only thing missing was a starry sky and campfire. :-)

My friends dip her fries in her milk shake. I thought that was gross.

After moving back home to Texas about five years ago, I realized that summers are much too hot for indoor cooking, and usually hot meals, so I took to more grilling, and more cold foods. I combined the both by putting together good flatbread sammiches: chilled, grilled chicken, spinach and basil leaves, a little red onion, gouda or feta or sharp cheddar cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers sliced thin, all on naan bread smeared with homemade tzatziki. Not so much a discovery as it is a reworking of a Greek meal, but it sure is good, light, and good for you.
Right now I'm prepping an omelet by dicing mushrooms, green pepper, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and a little leftover chicken I've got.

This Greek marinade for chicken is amazing, and goes great with tzeziki sauce and is healthy.
Combine:
-2 teaspoons minced garlic
-Juice of 1 lemon (2-3 Tablespoons)
-2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
-2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
-2 heaping Tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
-1 Tablespoon dried oregano
-Salt and pepper to taste
Let up to 2lbs Chicken marinade in this mix for at least 2 hours or up to 24 hours before tossing on the grill.

Sounds great, but I don't think I've got the patience to wait that long.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I only buy venison burgers now because this summer I tried them and it's basically like beef but tastes more lean.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

Back in 2001, when we had the foot and mouth thing going on over here, supermarkets started selling ostrich and kangaroo steaks and burgers. I never got the chance to try them at the time before they disappeared, but I managed to get some steaks about a year ago. Meh. Not a great fan.

I ran out of maple for my waffles, so this morning, I tried molasses.
Don't be like me.
