The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Funded ... how?

You do realize such construction is much more expensive, right?

Yeah, right, because like best part of Shanghai looks like the top picture and worst part of Detroit looks like the bottom. And which picture does Iraq resemble today?

It would seem then that despite the growth of North Korea's economy it doesn't look to be benefitting anybody there besides Kim, Pyongyang, its military, and its nuke program.

Have you considered that the reason you don't see a lot of lights in North Korea at night is that maybe all of its industrial infrastructure is underground?

Yeah, right, because most of the lights in a developed economy comes from factories.

No, from street lights.

North Korea has a war economy, not a Las Vegas neon-type economy.

Um, not exactly. China is very westernized, it has tons of global companies that make stuff in China and they do tons of trade with America. China does not want a power vacuum to happen in North Korea, they don't want a refugee problem and they don't want a unified Korea with a western style government next to it's boarder. But no, they don't want North Korea to be poor, just for it get away from it's politics of blackmailing the rest of the world.

China would prefer North Korea to be more modern. I think you should not confuse a closed state which China is as being ant private sector. Both are authoritarian one party states, but China is far more in tune with global politics and global trade.

I think Un's mistake was murdering his reform uncle.

45 is not the way to get NK away from it's politics of blackmail. 45 is undoing 50 years of global policy seeking to slow down an arms race.
