The hard right uses Chicago becaus of its liberal gun laws. The typical law abiding citizen with follow the laws, and that leaves them 100% defenseless against the non-law abiding citizens.
There are also a lot of underlying issues; highest taxes in the country, high union presence, high unemployment rate, huge democratic local and state government, highest gun restriction laws within the city of Chicago, etc., etc.
No one can argue the results of their management skills I'm sure.

He could have simply put the first rifle in his mouth and squeezed the trigger. There'd be a lot less headaches in the world, right now.

If a person is so inclined to do such a thing it's best have just one gun type because it eliminates the ammo reloading problem.

Perhaps more firearm regulation and funding for mental health services is needed. People don't want to pay taxes for highways so they aren't too eager to pay money to deal with crazy people. Gun regulations won't stop people from killing people. This is America and we solve our personal problems with violence.

Intuitively you'd think so, but not for a new shooter. A pile of guns is easier. The tedious part is loading the mag, then you have to seat it and chamber the first round. This is where things usually go wrong if they're gonna go wrong. If a gun jams, drop it, pick up another gun. Plus, a new shooter may not know which of the many guns in the pile are the firearms best suited to the task. Another point in favor of pile-o-guns.
While some may see it as an indication of nutballery..I see cold, calculating, and thoroughly rational premeditation. A person thought to themselves..."I wanna shoot a bunch of people, but what if my gun jams, what if I have the wrong gun?" - and then systematically resolved those potential issues.

After 9/11 people were quick to find solutions to terrorism. Even ones that infringed on our rights.
Now, however, they're reluctant to do anything.
"Now is not the time to talk about gun control."
Well then, WHEN is the time? My guess is 'never'. There'll be another mass shooting you can use as a shield to say that we shouldn't talk about gun control. And then another, and another. Talk about using tragedies to play politics.
I hate to say it, but I don't think it'll stop until congresspeople have their own kids killed by gun violence. And even then maybe not.

It was country and western music. Maybe he was a music lover.

From afar, I can't help feeling the same shit about about muslims as I do about gun owners ...
99.999% are good responsible people but you will always get those that go off the deep end.
How can you stop a muslim from committing a terrorist act if he/she has no prior record or pops up any flags.
Same with gun control.
Science, methodologies and other controls can reduce the harm to the public via better preemtive intel.
But it can never stop the unpredictable human condition.
To stop this shit from happening so often, you need to throw the baby out with the bath water.
Something which can never happen ... Some earth shattering paradigm shift needs to occur first...

Actually 20% of Muslims think it's ok to kill non Muslims. That's quite a bit more than gun owners who use their guns to murder innocent people.
But anyway, I agree. We need better gun control in general. I honestly don't understand anyone being against that.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
