Theism is literally childish

Your opinion is noted. I disagree. A person who doesn't grow sufficiently to handle life responsibilities seems more likely to end up with depression, social anxiety, etc.

In those rare instances, whatever. In most cases, a relationship could be pursued, but with the availability of porn people are getting lazy.

Quote:Bad relationships and divorce have nothing to do with mental growth.  Sometimes shit happens.

You've got to be fucking kidding me. Yes, sometimes shit happens, but if one or more of the partners lack mental growth, the likelihood of failure goes up. You've never looked at a couple and thought that one or both of them were too immature for the relationship to last? Do you think people just roll D20s and everything is random?

But christians claim a perfect deity is the source for their morality, as well as claiming a relationship with god.  Why DON'T christians agree 100%?

Two big problems.

Claim #1 implies that were it not for gawd, they would become raping robbing, murdering lunatics. That alone is a matter for some concern.

Claim #2 is a claim of a really intense relationship with an imaginary being, hearing voices in one's head telling you what to do. That is called schizophrenia.

Underlying this are some unstated claims.

Bullshit. Last time I played I demonstrated that I was a gladiator, which is almost always town; I gladiated a claimed neutral survivor, which is anti-town; and I got lynched. Don't tell me that had nothing to do with what goes on elsewhere on the boards.

The beauty was that the claimed neutral went on to win. Hate to engage in schadenfreude, but in that case - yeah.

Two reasons:

1. Christians are fallen people just like everyone else - the full benefits of salvation aren't received in this life.

2. Prov 25:2

2. LOL the ghostly version of "dont ask, dont tell"

There's no point in reporting it because the mods have seen it already. Some even kudosed it, so that's why I don't think it's against the rules. I don't quite understand why it's not though.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Sorry, I don't remember that; I'll have to look that game up and read it. But even if that was the case, why would you think anything outside the game would effect people's decisions in the game? You vote for who you think is scummiest... in the game... and if there's any bias, it only relates to people's previous game play... not who they are or what they believe outside the game; that would be utterly pointless and self-defeating if nothing else. Personally I'd love to see you playing again.

Because people are people, and bias slips over from one area to another.

Well it makes absolutely no logical sense for it to do so in a game of Mafia; the random number generator is blind; anyone can roll scum. I can state categorically that I'd never read someone as scum because of who they are or what they believe outside the game. If you got lynched that game, it's much more likely that it's because you're a kick-ass mafia player... one I see as CD mark 2 in style and approach, and he's never trusted either.

People are more emotional than logical.

Also, it's not just about whether I'm voted or not - it's more a matter of, why would I play games with people who hate me? I know that not all atheists here are like that, but a lot are. Enmity is significantly higher than when I started doing this.

I mean come on emjay, 21 people - including you - kudo'd a post which says:

Quote:The converts though do not deserve pity so much as contempt because they have essentially outsourced their morality.

I find you contemptible - let's go play a game together doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

That may be true but no-one can argue with the random number generator, and anyone who does... who lets out-of-game bias about people effect their play in-game... has no business playing Mafia in the first place; it's simply completely anti-wincon to think like that.

As to the second point, CL plays, Kingpin used to play, even Neo had a go recently and seemed to like it... so it is ecumenical. For the record I don't hate you, and I bet you could ask anyone down in the mafia forum if they wanted you to play again and they'd emphatically say yes; it's a game where we can all put aside our differences and just play for fun and make friendships in that context... in that little family. We can't get around the fact that in the religious debates there's always generalisation on both sides... which you're finding hurtful but I likewise find hurtful when it's done against me... but it doesn't mean I hate you; you and me had a good connection once, and I still remember the kindness and concern you and your wife showed me when I was having that 'breakdown' in that game, and other times. So you've always been special to me, but this site just has a tendency to bring out the 'them against us' mentality on both sides, which is unfortunate, but ultimately human nature. All we can do is try to step back from it whenever we can.
