Bingo! Lies are especially powerful and hard to fight when the target really wants to believe. Con artists bank on that part of human nature.

Well, my father in law was raised by an old school Catholic mom who taught her kids not like anything different. I can tell that he's coming to the realization that a lot of what he was brought up to believe is wrong, and if he would watch something other than Fox News, he would be aligned differently in his political views.
Of course, he comes from a large family where 'liberal' is a dirty word and he would never be open about it. You'll just have to trust me on this one that the propaganda machine has a strangle hold on him.

From what I can tell from the little I've read about him, he is a tree hugging hippie compared to American conservatives.

Uh.. My Gov Sean Parnell joined Rick Parry (The a is for iowA) in the national day of prayer. There might as well be a national day of do fucking nothing, or national talk to yourself day. Why not national DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE DAY instead of talking to the sky. The ignorance is sick.
Lies are the most destructive thing a people can do. When you start telling lies you distort what real reality is and with those lies you can lay the foundation for bigger lies because they build apon the smaller lies and before ya know it you have jesus appearing in toasted wheat bread. Welcome to America!

I love the smell of self-flagellation in the morning!
C'mon guys! What are you doing?
Somehow I don't think whining and self-pity is going to be enough.

I just puked a little in my mouth.. After seeing the scars of my friends who have tried to kill themselves, I have a hard time looking at pictures of people hurting themselves like that. Bloody morons, I would say. Oh, and next time, please warn me, I was about to faint and my customers looked kind of funny at me
But back to the topic, yeah, you Americans have some weird ass religious people. We have some too, but fortunately Finns are not a very vocal people, worshipping and judging happens for most of the time in people's own homes. Sure, there are some idiots with megaphones now and then out preaching, but they can be easily ignored. Unfortunately there's an alarming trend amongst our politicians, they become increasingly "faithful", and I don't like it. Being delusional is not a good way to assure people that you're fit to take care of the country, but the stupid masses seem to fall for it..
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Suomenusko as in finnish faith or faith in Finland? I must confess that I'm ignorant of what it means.
But yes, we do have nutters, but in a country of 5.7 million people, one can avoid them pretty easily.
