I've read all of those books I don't know how many times. He made reference to god, or at least "creation" as well. I realize I should have been more clear. Anyway, the Sherlock in Sherlock is an even better Sherlock than Doyle's Sherlock if only because he's more modern.
That's fair, although I take umbrage at a 'better' Sherlock.

I would too, if someone else said it. Perhaps better isn't the best word, but I love a Sherlock with a mobile phone, if you know what I mean. I enjoy the newish take on Mycroft as well. There's just a lot more depth, more relationships, more humor, etc. than was in the novels. Try not to take that as a criticism. They are some of my favorite pieces of classic literature.

I've always liked Penn Jilette's disposition.

Not 'literature' - biography. 😠

I like Sam Harris. I'm not very literate, but "Letter" was easy reading, and very matter-of-fact.
Sooooo......I know Sagan isn't an atheist, but is NDT? I like him.

He probably heads my list of least favorite atheists.

Yeah, but you gotta admit- the thing he does with the nail gun is pretty goddam cool.

My professor, I had two summers ago, when I came back to university, may God have mercy on him and forgive him.
He died right after getting us through the course, I hope to see him in paradise.

The mute protagonist of Id Software's Quake is an atheist? Never knew that.

Mystic, I really don't understand this logic. It really WONT kill you to consider you got it wrong. If you like some of us here, and I know you do, try to understand we may think you are full of crap on the super natural, but we call you out, not because we want to hurt you, but help you.
And there is no such thing as "paradise". There is simply a messy reality, on a messy planet, in a messy solar system in a messy universe, far older than our species.
When you use words like "Paradise", I see myself dating and marrying the high school cheerleader Ann McCarthy, whom, in realty, wanted nothing to do with me.
Utopias do not exist, not for Muslims, or Christians, or Jews, or Hindus or Buddhist and not even atheists.
There is only one species, one finite species, on a finite planet orbiting a finite star.
Live now, be happy now, but don't chase fantasy and drive yourself nuts.

I don't find this surprising. Not that you don't like him in particular. Just that I don't think he's an atheism.org style atheist.
