I like it when he ridicules religion. I don't think he's arrogant, I think he's a champion of reason, and the planet needs more people like him calling out nonsense.
Humans don't like their social norms challenged, and far too often they confuse their own cognitive dissonance with being the "arrogance" of the other.
I like CL, but I'd argue that "arrogance" would be clinging to the past out of comfort and tradition, even after others have debunked it. I don't aim that at her personally, but at humans in general, whom cant see the history of old claims constantly being ditched resulting in progress.
Was it "arrogant" for Galileo to tell the church that the sun did not revolve around the earth? Popular belief back then thought that about him, and he was put under house arrest for such blasphemy.
Dawkins like me, I am sure, if we ran across CL in an auto accident and she needed aid, would not go, "Fuck it, let her die, she believes". I am quite sure any empathetic person would lend aid. AND I am sure CL would do the same for us.
It is not "arrogant" to say to others, "We've studied this, what you claim is not true."
It is arrogant to me to say, " I know the answers, and won't subject them to independent peer review."
I think CL has a good heart. But no, she is wrong about Dawkins. I think it bothers humans when their social norms are challenged. I think it bothers Mystic too. I think it bothers Jews and Hindus too, to be told this is it.
