Does atheism oppose the world religions?

I strongly believe that every theist needs to examine their own religion through the lens of Atheism. It'll pretty quickly become horrific on many many levels.

An outsider test would definitely help..even if it didn't dissuade them from belief......which it wouldn't, lol. The religious are clearly A-OK with "horrific on many levels".

I think you misunderstand what I'm saying, so I'll be more clear. People need to think about their religion imagining there is no God and see how it looks then.

Pretending there's a god doesn't make reality any less ruthless

Amazing how this guy's religious bent drives him to twist people's words like this. It's the principal reason I don't generally respond to him or the rest of them (C_L and maybe a couple more to the side). Maybe they think they're cute when they shit that stupid?

I don’t think that has anything to do with a religious bent... it seemed pretty obvious to me, he was just having a little fun, with something that wasn’t really an argument.  

I take it, that you must be appalled when others do that here, twisting the arguments and positions of others.

You "know" exactly zero about what appalls me here. FWIW, the best spoken theist here is still wrong. Take what you want from that statement. Your response illustrates precisely why I don't generally respond to theistic claims. If you don't get it, I'll understand.

Also, please explain your sig, as it relates to atheism. If that is too much of an affront in this thread, maybe you can start another to explain it.

As an aside, I'd like to comment that, in real life, people get to say all kinds of shit, but usually get their chops busted for it, except if they are religious, in which case people let them spout their shit, out of fear for the crazy person they see at their door. I'm looking forward to a world where crazy people don't come to my front door and spout their shit. Next, it will be the internet where crazy people like you won't be able to spout your shit. That will be a great day.

Well, in retrospect, to be fair, go ahead and spout your shit on the internet, There does seem to be a steady resistance, of which I approve. The more that people are educated, the less religious shit they will swallow.

Ok... if you don’t want to talk... doesn’t sound like you would listen anyway.  That is your choice.  It also does not surprise me much, if you are not consistent in your reasoning or judgement. 

As for my sig... it doesn’t relate to atheism much at all.  However I do find that it applies to some who call themselves atheists.  But I mostly liked the quote. And I as well, am all for education...and reason. I find that both strengthen my faith.
