I would prefer a study on locus of control by political view, but this is similar.

People with an internal locus of control believe that their own actions are the biggest determinant of outcomes in their life.

People with an external locus of control believe that outside forces are the biggest determinant of outcomes in their life.

Doesn't the first seem to go more with conservatives, and the second with liberals?

For sure the population will go down the current growth simply is not sustainable, and especially in religious countries. That's the funny I was talking about.  No, of course not.  Liberals simply recognize that the factors which are outside ones control are also very significant.

People who don't start off with a silver spoon, contacts or a home situation conducive to pursuing an education do not often have an easy go of it.  Contrast that with Trump's upbringing.

It is usually those who have been the beneficiaries of a decent silver spoon who crow the loudest about self reliance.  It just makes you all look smug and disingenuous.
