And I've had to cut and run, escaping on short notice from a house I used to own (and never did set foot in again), to prevent a potential murder-suicide.  Didn't even occur to me that night, or over the subsequent months of dealing with police, lawyers, DV counsellors and others, to petition Drich's god for help.  The reason is simple:  I've never believed in Drich's god.

If I had been looking for divine help, I could have just as easily opened the Dungeons and Dragons resource book Deities and Demigods to a random page, closed my eyes, and selected a random god.  I would have found that considerably more useful -- If I can only role-play belief anyway, I might as well go with something that admits it's just role-playing. I witnessed this type of behavior more than once with 'atheists' and wondered how many of you could admit this type of behavior in your own life.

When in need cry out to God and when 'safe' tell god to eff off..

Why do online Christians like Drich always seem to know atheists convenient for their claims when I didn't knowingly meet my third atheist until I was over 40?
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

I haven't even thought about God for a second in times of need since I've stopped believing. Pretty irrelevant to my life now

Imagining a situation where I'm about to be murdered.  The guy is stomping through my house looking for me.
"Oh Tooth Fairy, please help me find a way out please please please and I'll devote my life to you forever!"
Hell no.  I would be way too busy either searching for an exit strategy or a weapon.

Then by himself he gives up on theism and seeks mercy from God, and in one reality he goes balls out begging God for help mercy and in the others he seeks forgiveness for his sins, but when Rick is saved.. and his prayers answered, it all goes back to "Eff you God"

What truly is funny/sad this has to be anchored in reality to one degree or another in order for this to be a punch line that we all get.

Given the right circumstances, some atheists probably would "snap".  I think that is what has happened to Dr. Francis Collins.  While he was a doctor, I believe that he had a patient die on him, and he could not cope with the loss, and so, he "got religion".

Been there myself.

if not you then perhaps an alternate you in the multi-verse. after all I think one out of the 50 ricks remained atheist in his convictions while the other groveled.

If one could admit this, you are 1/2 way home, all we need do then is identify the preceived freedom you think you have with 'God.' Then I ca show you that freedom is nothing more than a philosophical illusion.
Baloney. I can safely say that the only time I cry out "OHHHHHH GOD!!!!" is in a context you likely disapprove of.

Any excuse to post a Bottom clip, eh? I know, cos I'm the same Wink

I'm more of a B'Stard man myself.

Probably more closely related to Brian Boru than Boru (I'm the right clan at least).

Been there in the past, done that, now a happy unencumbered home-owner.

How did that happen? Did god do something? Nope. I did something. Me. Not god or any other magical fairies. Just me.

If, as you state, you are in that unhappy place, then take it from me. You can get out of it. (god not included)

You know, I am relatively new here, is this drichs's usual level?

ETA: And now it looks like I am having a go at Lutrinae because the sites software is messed up.

Actually this is intellectual Drippy. Typical drippy drops much lower.

Sorry, you've lost me Blush ...is B'Stard an Irish thing? I'm half Irish but I've never lived there and don't know much of my family history on that side. I've only been to visit a few times... the land of gloomier weather than England... if such a thing is possible... and an almost total lack of road signs Wink
