Atheists same as religious extremists

RE: Atheists same as religious extremists
So then nothing can be known about this subject. Others, sure, NP. This one, not a chance? It's just too difficult?
How does "no one can know either way" lead logically or reasonably (as you continue to state) to supporting your particular brand of theism, exactly? Aren't you saying, in essence "We don't actually know anything, but here's what we know."
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Everything can be known. But what you know is the sum of your own conclusions. You conclude differently so your knowledge points to another conclusion than my knowledge does.

Who is right?

You don't seem to confront the theology. Just the history and the science. So our conclusions don't seem to be about the same subject even.

No one can know the science either way. But that's not what I'm talking about.

Frodo, indulge me on one simple question.
I am 99.999% certain god does not exist.
What % do you put on god existing?

It seems to me whenever there are debates online or on t.v, there seems to be a habit amongst fundemental religious preachers, to state everything they as fact. I.e this is the way it is because "god says it is" and there is no room for movement.

However at the same time, there are religious people who do believe there is room for interpretation and use religion in a good way. It is their faith that helps them with their lives.

It seems to me in debates, atheists generally view anyone with religious views with the same contempt irrespective of their interpretation of their particularly religion. There seems to be a very slight mockery at the very least, or out right hatefuleness at the most. It seems sometimes Atheist hold their viewpoint, in the same regard as fundamentalists, in that they are 100% right. Could it be that atheism is wrong and religion is right?

None of us can be 100% certain at all. It may just be that we are all wrong, or partially right. Or both sides are partially right. I believe in evolution and science, but I beleive there is no such thing as fact. I believe what is "fact" is only fact until disproved.

So what im asking is, why is it many atheists hold their view to be fact, when in essence atheism in itself is just anothery theory/viewpoint. It may be infallable just like religion may be. I know I may be generalising, but surely others have noticed this too?

So Unicorns & leprechauns are real because we haven't 'disproved' them? Theory and viewpoints are very different, theories are able to be tested, while a viewpoint is a mental position in which things are viewed. Please get it right :p
Have you ever heard of anyone killed in the name of Atheism? Do you see Atheists taking away inalienable rights? Do you see Atheists bashing on gays because their "holy" book says so?

You are complaining about an outright hate towards religion? After all the genocides over differing opinions on what happens after you die? Or how you should live, because a book says so? Why shouldn't we dislike something that takes such a outright hate towards people that doesn't worship your 'god' and follow everything in your bible. Maybe religion would be better if it didn't have hate for everything indifferent. Islam is a theocracy, you see how well that is going? Peace isn't going to be found in the bible, or in god.

Are you seriously comparing us to WestBoro Baptist church?

Are you seriously saying that WestBoro Baptist church is right, and we are wrong?

Percentage score from me would be: 0,000,000,000,000.001%

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Well, considering that nothing like a God has ever been observed (directly or indirectly). Considering that gods in general have a long history of being absolute bullshit (something that a christian would necessarily agree with in the case of every other god). I think it's safe to say that the probability God exists is quickly approaching or at zero. Hell, lets add up all the gods proposed, make an exception for christ (lulz) and then see what percentage we're left with from there.

WTF are we arguing/ discussing?? Confusedhock:

Oh yeah "Atheists same as religious extremists"

What fucking evidence do we have for this statement??

How are Atheists - Extreme??

Where is the 'evidence' that Atheists have plowed planes into a major trade significant building ??

Killed an number of "innocent people" in the name of their belief?? (or lack there of)

Have motivated Governments world wide of locally to act against the best interests of the general populace??

Why are we still having to answer to these accusations from children who believe in an omnipotent (read impotent) "Sky daddy"
