The catch-all forum drama thread

But, seriously, we don’t need conflicts spreading from thread to thread when they detract from the topic at hand.

Obviously I’m no mod (I haven’t even stayed at a Holiday Inn), but as a forum reader, it’s really frustrating to see new activity in threads I’m interested in, only to see that it’s a continuation of multiple pages of angst that, in a lot of cases, isn’t even remotely related to the topic at hand any longer.

Now, this isn’t a backwards way to enforce civility, either. I really don’t give a fuck about that one way or another. I just get tired of the same arguments happening between the same people for the same reason in multiple threads. If you’re going to have it out with someone, just do it in one place.

Again, I obviously have no power to enforce any of this. But fuckin’-a, it’d be nice if this worked.

How many threads about Christians being here and their motivations do we need?  And in multiple areas of the forum?

How many posts do we have where people bring up shit from years ago in a way to disparage others?

I’m not trying to single out any particular poster.  I have definitely generated my own share of drama on here.  Especially with that last one.  But, over the last week or so, the signal-to-noise ratio has just gone out of whack.  And I know I’ve been part of the problem myself.

So, here’s a place to get it all out of our systems.

And, again, I know I have no power to enforce this.  Shit, this thread will likely get locked, and I might get warned for trying to play mod.  But it’d be really nice if we could all dial it down a bit, myself included.

Instead of polluting various other threads with who said what, who’s being a jerk and who isn’t, who likes who, who hates who, multi-page rants/justifications/tantrums about why someone is leaving or coming back, and so on, here’s a centralized location to get it all out of your systems.

I’ve done it before at another forum. I’m not sure I’d fit in with this crew because I tend to be a little more ban happy than they are, and I’m a bit more of a stickler for keeping things on-topic.

I wouldn’t say no if they offered, but I’m not fishing for a green name, either.
