Because taking a human life, and murder are two completely different things.

This is true even on the level of Man. In the form of the state declaring war, or executing a criminal, or in a liberal state allow abortions. lest you think all women who've had abortions are murders...

So then how is God restricted to make the distinction between murder and killing if we can do the very same thing?

Does God ever define what constitutes murder in the bible?

12 “Whoever hits and kills someone must be killed too. 13 But if an accident happens, and a person kills someone without planning it, then God allowed that thing to happen. I will choose some special places where people can run to for safety. So that person can run to one of those places. 14 But whoever plans to kill someone out of anger or hatred must be punished. The word is the same for murder and kill the intent is key which is explained above.

God sat one man down and had him describe what he saw/how the world ends. What was written was an ancient understanding of a modern war.

Imagine being placed at the edge of a battle 2 or 3 thousand years into the future, would you have the words to accurately portray all of the things you saw? could you accurately describe the politics or would you relate it to an allegory based on star wars and game of throwns./something you knew??

Your question is malformed. No one deserves a pleasant afterlife. We have all sinned and fallen short. We all deserve separation from God. It is only by the free gift offered that we don't get what we deserve. The difference is that you implied you deserve a "lesser afterlife" because you are not a Christian. That is not the case and the difference has huge impact on the whole worldview.

Well for one thing, if you calculate the size of the Holy City literally according to the number of cubits, the top floors would be above the earth's atmosphere and it would be so massive that it would throw the entire earth off balance. So unless John was seeing some kind of George Jetson space tower, it seems more plausible to assume that John was providing a spiritual meaning by means of physical metaphors.

I don't think anyone ultimately deserves anything be it good or bad.

But considering God knew that original sin was going to happen he condemned everyone knowingly anyway.
