I did both.
A big factor in my change from before is that I focused on harm done, decided that charity is too limited and unscaled to properly address what a global social safety net should be (targeted to those who need it without running afoul of the bigotries of certain charitable organizations (Salvation Army I'm looking at you)), saw no issue with propping up a museum if the public wishes to pay taxes for it and saw only minor issues with corporations, as long as they're regulated closely.

I think a lot of people are libertarians in many views, but we only usually have 2 choices. In the US that is.
Liar, or Liar that cares about people a little bit more than the other liar.
US needs fundamental change in how our government works.

Nolan chart puts me as a centrist, bordering on libertarian, on the liberal side, as opposed to conservative (trouble with the image).
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It's a much smaller test as well.
LOL, I like the Nolan chart even less. Too few questions, and the answers I found to be too specific. In most cases, I found myself picking the answer I hated the least because none of them really fit. I don't think the results were as accurate.

Believe they're meant to touch on subjects that are considered hot buttons for this or that group. Trying to pin any person down exactly is likely to be a long and tedious process, as a person can (and many times does) hold conflicting opinions on a single issue.

You need to take a screenshot of the Nolan Chart results.

No surprise here

I'm fairly certain that the weight of my stance on gun control alone threw me out of liberal left field and into centrism (on the chart) which I don't think is warranted..lol.

A pretty meaningless claim, the term is very broad.. But,you're right a waste of time if you are serious. That test is a smidge over simplified. I' m far from convinced it has any use on its own apart from mild entertainment value, like say astrology.
