Wow, just watched the four plus minutes available on youtube of "living witness".  Disturbing and out of whack with what I remember.  7 of 9 being ordered to assimilate into her fighting force the two invaders they didn't outright kill already.  Weird.

Episode quite confusing if you don't watch the whole thing. lol. And didn't you think 7 looked a little more "borg-ish" than usual?

I enjoyed "learning curve" from Voyager season one: you had mentioned this episode earlier in the thread; it is where Chakotay punches the unruly Maquis member and makes the following remark: "that's the Maquis way."  IMO, "eye of the needle" (season one) is a good episode from Voyager season one.

Fantastic episodes. Also absolutely love Counterpoint where Voyager passes through a region of space where telepathy is illegal and Janeway has some romantic attraction to an ex-officer who realises that hunting down telepaths is wrong. The thing that really makes that episode is the use of classical music. Must say that I prefer Tchaikovsky's 4th than anything by Mahler.

There were definitely some gems in Voyager. But there were some bad episodes, too. On the whole, I'd say Voyager was a good series. However, it was a bit of a slog. It marked the beginning of Trek's inevitable decline. Enterprise was just the embodiment of that decline. It really started with Voyager.

TNG and DS9 remain my favorites.

I'm of the opinion that sci-fi is at its best when your backs are against the wall. Think Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica etc. That doesn't happen so much with Star Trek where they can use techno babble as a plot resolution and live in a utopia. Voyager was different in that regard, although they still used technobabble at times.

Ironic.  Future is best when there seems to be almost no way out.

Scott Bakula is great, and I do not fault him or his acting skills for the failure of Enterprise.

(Off topic one of my fav Bakula moments)
