Heh, when I taught school, one of the other teachers would say, "Garbanzo beans!" when some kid said something inapposite for an answer to his question.
Same guy put a (cartoon) picture of a bunch of coins on a test with a question as to whether they could be real, and NOONE got the answer. Some were stamped with "BC".

Moving this to Area 69 (think phonetically):
What is the difference between a lentil and a chick pea?
A lentil does not charge you $200 to pee in your face!

I don't mind hummus, but I don't go around making excuses for it either. If it's right alongside some french onion dip, I might even get crazy and try a double decker combo of some sort. I am creative like that. If there's soup at a party, as long as it's not clam chowder, or split pea, I am there with a spoon and a smile. Personally, I like build-your-own taco parties, and I have never met a boring asshole there.

- the organic component of soil, formed by the decomposition of leaves and other plant material by soil microorganisms.
Doesn't sound very appetizing.

Approximating my Grandmothers Hummus recipe ( She showed me how when I was 10-11 years old) :
Add juice of 1/2 lemon to 1/8 cup H20.
Add 1/2 cup tahini to above.
Whip with whisk until incorporated and tahini is whitish and nearly fluffy.
Add 2 cups pureed cooked garbanzos
Fold in garlic to taste
Salt to taste
Serve drizzled in olive oil with pita bread.
Most sprinkle with paprika but Nana used to sprinkle with a little sumac (look it up)!

I've had BRG (steak) with sumac at a Persian restaurant. I don't care for the taste of sumac. Depending on the type of paprika, it can be for color or for (spicy) heat, or both.

An aquired taste I suppose. Sumac is not typically served with hummus. However, it is an ingredient of zatar. Ever sampled?

And I agree that steak and sumac is not an appealing idea!
