Jesus suffering vs eternal suffering of temporary sinners

What Jesus went through is horrible, if we presume it happened. But what about the eternal suffering of people who just survived for a few decades and were deemed as sinners by God. Jesus suffering is nothing in comparison to endless suffering.

The Old Testament has weird stories that fall apart the more you look at them, but this is one from the New Testament. Being killed, albeit horribly, but then coming back to go to heaven and sit at the right hand of god, isn't really much of a sacrifice. The burden of sin is upon him, but sin is a weird concept. Unless he has severe PTSD or something, I don't see where the sacrifice comes in. the most I've heard is that he still has the wounds in his hands/wrists and side.
Wouldn't it be nice if all the burnt offerings came back in three days?

The whole notion of infinite punishment for finite transgressions is abhorrent. The Catholics tried to get round it by inventing purgatory. The idea was that if you were bad, but not REALLY bad enough for Hell, you could go to purgatory and people could pray for your soul. Purgatory involved physical pain, just not the eternal suffering of Hell.
In secular terms, let's say Joe murders his wife, but all Jim does is cheat on his taxes. If both die unshriven, Joe goes straight to hell and is pretty well fucked. Jim, on the other hand, might just have to spend 10 000 years being lashed with chains dipped in acid for knowingly failing to disclose the NZ$50 his neighbour paid him for mending the shed.
See? Catholicism makes sense!!

The actual time you spend in purgatory is undefined. It could be a nanosecond, it could be a billion years.

No, they say the time you spend there is indeterminate.

Jesus suffers every time someone chokes a chicken, or spanks a monkey, or paddles the pink canoe, or finger paints.
