Yep. You're just a puppet.

Don't you own guns...plural?

Which side are you on...I have never been sure.  Your stance on gun ownership is hazy.  I get the feeling you think you are the only responsible gun owner who should be allowed to own firearms.  Somehow there should be laws regarding guns that take into account a person's own determination of their ability, now and in the future, to remain a responsible gun owner.

Then there are the threats to shoot me on the other forum.  Which doesn't happen to be a hallmark of responsible gun ownership.

Both sides pulling your strings?

Plenty of gun owners are all for competent gun control.  It affects us more than it effects people who don't own guns...though, hilariously, the efforts at gun control so far do absolutely nothing about the vast majority of us. We say that we "ban" "assault rifles", for example..but we don't. Everyone who already has one gets to keep it - and the laws don't even address assault rifles. It's just the usual stuff of policy. Call it one thing, do another, and do it in a way that doesn't accomplish anything.

Then run on it again next time!

The nutters could ruin it for the rest of us, though...and that would be a shame, but it won't be anything to non-gun owners..whose lives will go on exactly as they were.

No idea why you would say that. Idiots keep raging against people and organizations that are fueled by their rage. Raging against them just makes them stronger, because they benefit from the publicity. You don't have to be very cynical to see the left and the right feeding each other. For a lot of Dems, gun control is an easy issue that appeals to their base. The more noise that they make about it, the less time they have to spend talking about more difficult substantial issues. It's an easy path to victory for them. And all of that noise gives publicity to the NRA and boosts gun sales.

I'm not sure what to do about gun violence in America. But I am certain that the issue is fertilizing an environment in which a couple of parasites maintaining a symbiotic relationship with each other are flourishing.
Because it's true.

Assault weapon = any black colored rifle that causes liberals to pee themselves.

I have several black colored rifles that have external magazines. They are semi- automatic - not full auto, or selectable fire, like military grade weapons. None of them have ever assaulted anyone - so quite obviously they are not " assault weapons".

The NRA won't look a gift horse in the mouth.  If we say one thing and do nothing they're gonna go nuts about it.  This is an inconvenient bit of truth for both sides of the issue.  The NRA needs to pretend that our gun laws actually get guns, but so do gun control advocates.  They don't.  No gun control legislation survives grandfathering.  Everyone, even people with banned guns..get to keep their guns..and guns have a longer shelf life than gun control legislation has.

We'll have to change that, or just fundamentally change the way we approach gun control, otherwise, this back and forth is going to continue, and continue to provide leverage to both sides.  It's not exactly coincidental that politicians maintain wedge issues.  Fixing the problem would deprive them of the wedge and potentially cost them more than they have to spend.

Call me a cynic, but I think that factors into alot of decisions about gun control at the level of our reps, no matter who's making them. This cynical appraisal is reenforced by the fact that we have extremely clear data about how to address any given component of our gun problem but no one proposing anything that conforms to that data. We just don't take it seriously, and we probably never will. Gun control lost the very first time a bunch of kids got shot up and we did nothing. They're just numbers that we game each other over, now.

Did you read the attached story?

Gun sales are DOWN since Trump got elected.

Isn't that what you want? LESS GUN SALES??

No - what you want is to ignore the unintended consequences of your actions - and keep voting ( D ).

People want tighter regulation of guns that, fewer people buy them is almost irrelevant at this point.

That guns retain their value is one of the big reasons that people buy them. There aren't many things that you can do that with. It's pretty much gold and guns. And everyone figures that gun control can't do anything but drive the value on them up.

OK, now you're just being a dick. You know that guns hold their value. And you know that assault rifles are in the crosshairs. And you know that the ones that are legally owned will increase in value if they are banned. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to get that. You're not paranoid until you start burying your gold. I know a few guys who are studying up on how to bury their guns. Those guys are paranoid.
