Maybe he's gone off to repent for failing to convert atheists?

They don't exactly get a nice reception do they so why would such cowards come back?

I have a question. Why would you want to enter an atheist forum to state your position as a person of faith? It reminds me of of big bully in a school yard challanging anyone to see whether they can get his lunch from him. Is it that you are interested in self-flaggellation? How can anyone who has studied history, philosophy or even theology honestly have faith in an omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient super power. It's absurd. If you want to lie to yourself that is fine. Don't tell me that I should consider you sincerly believe. An intelligent, honest, balanced, enlightened person could have some faith in the unknowable based on a theory for example the Multiverse but not on the obviously spurious claims of a disturbing dogma. It doesn't take any of the above attributes to be an atheist as I was one before I heard the word. I actually remember hearing the word Pantheism in religion class when I was 11 and saying to myself, that was what I was, years before I read Spinoza. Like Einstein, if I refer to god and faith in truths beyond my reach, what I mean is; physics, mathematics, reason, everything around us. The mirace of life and evolution.

But then why alternatively does an atheist forum exist to discuss theology Huh

Fr0d0,

Ha ha good point! +1 internets for you. The answer is simple though, people are curious and like to talk about stuff with like-minded people. The funny part is the fact that "atheist" simply means a lack of belief in god. There are no doctrines and covenants that apply to atheism. I like the diversity here and enjoy sharpening my mind by subjecting it to divergent views.

Most people I interact with don't put much thought into things so talking to them is not very stimulating. At first, I was annoyed that there were theists here, but the discussions are that much more interesting because of your ilk.

Since coming here I am much less interested in "battle lines" between "us" and "them" and realize that "atheist" is just a label that WILL change given the appropriate evidence.

Thanx for ze internet Big Grin ..I too like the banter on here and respect everyone (I think Tongue) coz we like to thrash out the same stuff ultimately. I've had some full on convo's with EvF on MSN, for example, and have the greatest respect for his ideas and intelligent points. I like to think I'd change my mind given sufficient reasoning too.
