I loved Radar's kindness as a character, as much as I loved my real mother's unwavering support she gave me my entire life.
But when I use the word "hate" I don't mean in a " I want you dead or arrested" mentality.
More like if you had a friend or family member who went around every day saying, "The Cleveland Browns beat the Washington Capitals in Wimbledon Tennis". I may like or love you as a friend or family member. But if you kept on repeating that shit, it would bother me to the point of wanting to correct you.
Yes, absurd claims can and do drive me nuts. No, that does not mean I am going to have you arrested or murdered or oppress you.
Oh, ok. that makes sense. See, when you said, 'I hate the Radar character', I thought you meant 'I hate the Radar character', when you clearly meant something completely different. Silly me.

You skipped over the part where I said I loved his kindness. Yes, I do hate the motif where he completed people's sentences and where he'd say "choppers are coming" before you heard the sound effects of choppers.
Now again, go back, watch the video of the real man the character was based on and interviewed. Neither you or I knew each other back then. So how is it the interviewer, whom neither you or I met, thought to ask him about ESP if I was the only person in the world to think the same thing. You think an interviewer who never met me had some magic power back then to consider my objection to claims of ESP? That would be ESP itself.
Because like me, even back then, other viewers, that I never met, thought the same thing, that ESP was bullshit. Why ask that question if nobody bought the claims of ESP?

I get it. You loved Radar's kindness, but hated the character, although you really didn't, you just hated the fact that people who believed in ESP thought Radar was psychic, which - let's face it - is a really stupid reason to hate the character, even though you didn't, but just said you did because you don't think things through before you make ill-considered comments.

AGAIN, I loved my late mother, she put me through college and bought me a house. And because of her lifetime of saving, right now I do not have to work.
But yea, I did hate that she thought eating a cracker magically would get her into heaven.
Not going to fall for your "either or" "which is it" crap.

Omg are we really making a thread to the single greatest show on Earth?!?!?! EKKKKK YAYAYAYAY!
I am seriously in LOVE with MASH and I never saw an episode air live. By the time I got into it when I was in middle school it was playing reruns for 20 years. I had everything with MASH on it. Scrubs when I worked at the daycare, a wallet, literally wore a MASH shirt yesterday (I have two), my purse is army green and I painted MASH 4077 and a red cross on it, and my truck says MASH 4077 across the back window. I can quote almost every episode and I detest the movie.
With that said I agree that Radar was treated badly. My issue though is how they mock him for being short and innocent. Just because he doesn't go out drinking and womanizing he was laughed at constantly. Hawkeye and Trapper were sexist pigs (still love them though)

One of my favourite scenes:
Potter: Why are you dressed like an Italian usher?
Flagg: Can you keep a secret?
Potter: I think so.
Flagg: I'm dressed as Ling Chou, Chinese double agent.
Potter: Funny. You don't look Chinese.
Flagg: Neither would Ling Chou is he were dressed like this. You follow me?
Potter: As far as I'd like to.

I like when Hot Lips says "I'm not as think as you drunk I am." and anything with Flagg in it. He is the best character ever made.

I loved Radar, not the ESP crap, but everything else.
I never thought that about Radar. Certainly under stress words fly, and that did happen. But characters like Henry, Hawkeye, Trapper, Margaret, BJ and Potter, all loved him. There was even an episode where he had gone home where the gang decided to call him to tell him how much they missed him. I just watched that rerun this week. They all thought of Radar as the glue that held the unit together.
The only real dicks to Radar on the show were Frank and Flag.
He was lovable. I always love how he ordered a Grape Nehi.
I don't think you have to look at the other characters putting him down, as much as they were teasing a friend.
They didn't razz Radar the way they rightfully picked on Frank. Frank was a fucking asshole.
I remember the episode where Hawkeye wanted to catch Trapper before he left, but was too late. Ended up meeting BJ, and convinced Radar to go into the officers club with some bullshit rank that didn't exist. Radar was shitting his pants but did it. I think it was "Corporal Captain".
Radar often spoke up to his superiors in that show. And there were plenty of times where his superiors backed him up when assholes like Frank bullied him.

Flag is every hyper nationalist Alex Jones Isis wannabe in human history.
Frank Burns was only slightly less annoying. Not much, but only slightly.
