I’m not allowed to treat patients using a rusty knife and kitchen tongs!
And most importantly, unlike churches, I still have to pay taxes.
are you allow to have a political opinion?
Are you forced to share your work space with people seeking to taint your clean environment?
Are you forced to abandon your parking lot connected to your building and be made to walk 1 to 2 miles (nearest authorized parking facility)
Are you forced to buy a bus and transport the old and infirm to and from this parking lot?
Are you forced to give out in literal tons of food in lieu of taxes to people looking to take advantage and abuse the program that refuse to meet any of the qualifications you may have to justify funding this program??
No? to me it seems you are bitching about doing what your job requires. Things you agreed to do things that one must take an oath to to even be considered for your job.
Everything I mentioned is added on well after the fact. These rules are meant to starve out and shut the church down.
what business that requires a shop or store visit could operate without parking? If the church can not be allowed suitable parking then the membership dwindles, donations falter and all of the extra expenses mandated in an unfair way make the church default in it's new requirements resulting moving the congregation.
When is the last time you where forced to move via code enforcement violations?
question are you not smart enough to make an honest comparison between the church I mention and your own situation or are you banking on the fact that the people reading your post are not smart enough to see past you ham fisted attempt at belittling this situation?

It's so comforting when you can count on things to be a certain way. IDK if this is a general lack of intelligence or it is just the way people like this (Educated/indoctrinated) are programmed now... allow people to say anything they want so long as the leftist propaganda machine approves and silence everything else by making labels and personally attacking them.. To not even try their own thoughts on the topic but to simply shut the conversation down by making the other person defend themselves. if I talk to one of you it is like talking to all of you as there is no individuality beyond the social group think. Why is it so offensive for you to post how the federal government and local government discriminates against my local church? Are you so wrapped up in the propaganda that you believe it and do not want to hear instances where people on the left are in full blown discrimination mode against the church? That's the truth of it like it or not. you "dims' lefies are no different than the dims and lefties that populated the KKK and fought for slavery. the bigotry and the need to seperate and discriminate is the same the only difference now it is not about skin as much is it is about how and what you think.
There should never be a war on human rights. But there should always be skepticism. If our species never questioned social norms, our species never would have left the caves.

Those are some good points, but they seem to be in opposition to each other.
"I think it's important to know your audience and not to take for granted that you are in the right." - agreed, but " You guys seem to think that the sheer number of you somehow makes your belief more reasonable", so to clarify "Assuming that everyone else shares your belief and is okay with being led in a Christian prayer is not reasonable." which of course makes it bigoted and indoctrination, then "If you make assumptions, that’s on you not me. " - ok so I have to make some assumption, but I don't have the right to " assume other people around you hold that same belief" "Maybe you are (in the right) in your world but everyone doesn't live there." it's not really about the right or wrong. It's a social contract. I come here to an atheist forum knowing that I'm a minority and misunderstood. I have to work in the guidelines and framework of this place as part of my social contract. I believe the same applies. I do assume that people I meet, in the circles I roll in, in the area I am have some sort of basic theism. That's not guaranteed to be right every time, but often enough. I also assumed that since there have been no problems with the 30 public prayers prior to the one, no one has expressed an issue, that there isn't an issue. I would have been very happy to stop doing the prayers publicly if there was a parent with a problem that addressed it rationally, because my assumptions were reasonable, but false in this new case. 2. I wouldn't care if you said a few words to Faloola or Mohamed, as the practice of saying a few words before a game was common enough and as long as you didn't force anyone to say anything they didn't want to. 3. I'm not saying your atheist son can't play football because his teammates are Christians. However, if you see that they pray before meals and before a game and after a game, he should know they're Christians going into it, and I hope you've had a discussion about what that means for him. I consider some conformity the cost of socialization, and as a parent I would hope you wouldn't force him to join the group just so you can single out those Christian boys from the team or their coaches. 4.@Losty On the second point you make my case. I agree it was a horrible example because both of us agree that trans jokes, regardless of the audience are discriminatory and wrong. What we don't agree on is that saying a prayer publicly is wrong. How is saying a prayer with an audience discriminatory or wrong, exactly? I don't believe my right to my free speech ends if I am making others hurt or uncomfortable, otherwise it's not FREE speech. I believe there is a certain amount of discomfort in any social contract as it's a compromise and in compromises neither side gets all of what they want. I believe I am abusing my right to Free speech when I am intentionally saying something that hurts someone else.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

Saying a prayer publicly is not a problem as long as you do it as a private citizen and not as, say, a representative of a public school, particularly when your intended audience is impressionable young people.
I don't remember anything in the Bible that was particularly favorable towards public prayer, but I don't have an eidetic memory. I honestly don't know what tenet of the Bible you think made it necessary to lead other people not in your church in prayer in your capacity as a coach. I can pray my head off at work as long as I don't disturb anyone. It would be very inappropriate to gather my team for a prayer, and they're adults. Their religion is their own business, not mine, and I don't have any business using my position of authority to involve them in my religious practices.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
well the example of prayer was a private one, and condemnation was levied against those who prayed publicly like the pharisees did.
The Prohibition was not on public prayer but making a special of yourself while doing it so as to be seen by others as a holier than thou type. RE: Discrimination, oppression, and the War on Christianity

@tackattack Sorry but I find your sense privilege and entitlement a bit disturbing.
It's not just about the person not joining in and saying the prayer, listening to it is offensive enough. I don't understand at all the christian need to lead groups in audible prayer. Can god not hear you if done in silence? You leading the group in prayer that may or may not be all christian was indoctrination, whether you want to believe it or not. I'll attend a sober group today, a group that claims up and down that they are not religious and that anyone can attend and be included, then insist that the gathering be closed by reciting the lords prayer. And I'll be singled out for keeping my mouth shut and judged. I almost fall down laughing when they occasionally ask me if I'm jewish. The thing is that most of them know I'm atheist and that I find it offensive but they don't give a shit. A good rule of thumb is that your christian rights/liberties/freedoms should stop where my nose (ears) starts. But I'm positive that will go against your sense privilege and entitlement, as with most christians.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
