Alison and I decided to use the extended lockdown time to start up a Kubrick film festival (I own all his films from Killer’s Kiss on, most on Blu-Ray), and I’ve decided to start with The Killing. And it includes this scene:



I was intrigued by Sterling Hayden’s line about how shooting a horse is nothing, crime-wise. Turns out it’s not quite true: if the shooting was judged to be cruel, it’s animal cruelty. If not, it’s destruction of property.
