Police officer gets stuck in handcuffs in training
A police officer had to call on the fire service to release him from handcuffs after getting stuck in them during a demonstration.
The Northamptonshire Police officer was showing new recruits how to use hinged handcuffs when the incident happened.
The training sergeant thanked Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service for cutting the cuffs off him.
The force's chief constable joked he "would rather have chewed my arm off than call the fire service".
After the incident was shared on Twitter, colleagues of the released officer said the incident carried a "cake fine" and would probably result in a "career-long nickname".
The officer in question - the core training sergeant for the force - was made to walk to the fire station to be cut free from the cuffs.
Scott Renwick said the mishap "wasn't a good start to the day" but he did not mind if his misfortune "put a smile on a single face during these difficult times".

Years ago, there was a fireman in Northern Ireland who neglected to turn off the fire under a pan of chip fat. Burned his house to the ground.

Really? That’s the ONLY thing you can imagine that’s worse?

Well sure Wally, 9/11 sucked, and pretty sure the Holocaust wasn't fun for Jews. But since the story was posted for humor purposes, no, I would not want to be that cop. But a dumbass younger brother named Beaver, like me, couldn't get humor?
The cop fucked up. Pretty sure everyone in life has had a moment where they tripped over something, or walked into something, and embarrassed themselves. I know I have. So you mean to tell me, you have never had a friend, or a co worker who did something that made everyone else laugh?
Get your humor GPS fixed dude. The cop simply slipped, everyone had a laugh.

First off, I don’t appreciate the name calling.
I never said it wasn’t funny. I chuckled when I read it. The funniest bit was that the cop is subject to a cake fine (if you don’t know what that is, let me know and I’ll explain it to you).
But you said that you couldn’t imagine anything ‘worse’. That just struck me as a weird thing to say.

Back in the '90s, I forgot to spin off the dial on my safe. I realized that I might have forgotten, about the time that I was halfway home, and I wasn't going back. The monitor (or last person out of the office) verifies that all the safes are locked. When I got in to work the following morning, my safe was locked, but when I opened it up, there was a frowny face picture. My stomach just fell, as I figured that I was getting a security violation. On further inspection, it turned out to be the person who was last out, and I simply had to buy doughnuts. I've been the last person out, and for whatever reason, never forgot to check all the safes.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

If you chuckled when you first read it, like I did, then why the response?
You treated me like the Beaver in your response, which why I referenced Wally. If it was funny, which you just admitted to, and I agree, then there was no need for your "you couldn't think of anything worse."
In the context of a Homer Simpson's "DOH!" moment, is why we both got a laugh from it. Nothing more. OF COURSE there are worse things in life. In the context of having a co worker or friend stub their toe or slip on ice, to where it isn't life or death, EVERYONE laughs at stuff like that.
Don't take yourself so seriously.

I already TOLD you why the response - saying that you couldn’t think of anything worse than a cop getting stuck in his own cuffs struck me as a weird thing to say.
Not getting your ‘Beaver’ reference, and I’m guessing ‘wally’ means something different over there.
You laugh at other people getting hurt? Yeah, not everyone does that.
