I think it's amusing that Winter fears the bomb. There's no credible scenario that the great western satan drops one on him. Smart money for that is on one of the islamists asking him for help.

It's a hell of a con, kill muslims while complaining about the west. In my experience, that's the most frustrating thing about peacekeeping in muslim areas. You stand between them and their buddies, who are shooting at them...and for whatever reason, they think it's your fault that their neighbors opened fire on them.

Its about a neo nazigroup that wants to buy a nuke, blow up a football stadium and trigger an russian-american nuclear war, with the nazis taking over control in this mess.
In the original book it was islamist terrorists instead of nazis, but the filmmakers found it too far fetched. Filming of the movie was finished in June 2001.

Also, the anniversaries of dropping of Fat Man and Little Boy on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were about two weeks ago. I won't fault you for being late, but I will fault you for acting like the West treats this as some act so demonstrably good it's regularly celebrated, because it's repeatedly brought up as a morally ambiguous action, especially since there's a distinct possibility that the Japanese surrender had more to do with the threat of a Soviet invasion than the A-bomb. Hell, even I had to check and confirm the days they were actually dropped (the 6th and 9th, with V-J Day being on the 15th.)

And as for your assumption that the atomic bombings had anything to do with trying to stop the Jews of Europe from being killed, well, this is the only real response to that:

Cowboys?  Technocrats and politicians built and employed those weapons..and, ultimately, there was no "protecting" them, because learning how to split an atom is something that any group of people can work out on their own - and that other people were working out on their own.  Even if we could strong-arm the world into not having nukes, should we?  Seems like it would be a hypocritical way to flex our nukes.
