J K Rowlings is the most famous writer on the planet?

Yeah. Right.

If you're 12 years old.

You can "armchair" the reason for gender dysphoria all you want, but your opinion carries as much weight as any random person.

Sure, Rowling claims to not support discrimination against trans people.  But, her actions are causing just that to happen.  She has convinced herself that being trans isn't a real thing, and the trans community and doctors are taking vulnerable children and convincing them that they are trans.

Now, I don't know how a 12 year-old knows they are trans.  It's a damn confusing time sexually, and there are all sorts of stereotypes around that they may be seeing they don't fit into.  But I'm not a researcher or doctor, nor have I known any trans people in their teens.  And, puberty delay drugs can have dangers, but they are at least reversible.  Not exactly some crime.

I think Rowlings is just plain wrong, and her comments are harmful.  If she was a random person, her views wouldn't matter.  But, she is the most famous writer on the planet, and looked up to by youth who read her books.  Her comments matter!  In her mind, she means well, but she is shit at figuring out what is (anti trans) activism and what is medical science.

Thanks for bumping my earlier post to the top of this thread. Indeed, it rocks. You literaly can't be mistaken about how you feel, it's not a cognitive proposition that can be true or false. There's no amount of scientific data that can demonstrate that trans identities are a mistake, even if it were true that they are created in some sense by sexist gender role stereotypes (which I think is at least worth noting).

Category error.

Rowling may as well screech about how we're turning the frogs gay, while she's at it. She's convinced that trans people are harming women, somehow, and that they are created by a nefarious medical plot. Straight up loon shit.

Expressed a factually incorrect, harmful and abhorrent opinion. Being non approved is the least of any opinions worries. Guess what Woody Harrelson said today? No clue? Yeah, me neither - approved or otherwise.

We might want to be careful when we elevate batshit to another opinion while tearing down anything else -as- another opinion.

Can you be specific about which parts are incorrect, abhorrent and/or harmful? I'm not seeing it.

Then your thoughts are ignorant drivel that has no basis in fact . And the sin not sinner is the same nonsensical crap right wing christian hide behind to  . It's pathetic when they do it's even more so when some who knows better does it . And no denying trans identity or denying its legitimacy or defining it as a mental illness IS TRANSPHOBIC. End of story .And Rowling's is a Transphobe she is demonizing trans people in her books .

Sorry I'm not woke enough to fully grasp such obvious injustice... help a brother out.

Is it the notion that a lot of trans kids are going to regret their transitions?  I guess people could argue about how common that is, or how important it is... but it's well documented that some people do regret their transitions.  Is it somehow evil to even bring up the subject?  Or am I missing something?

Or that cis-women are not quite the same as trans-women?  Again... pretty easy to prove in the vast majority of cases.  Surely you wouldn't deny that some very common and important life experiences are pretty much exclusive to humans with a functioning female reproductive system?  Is it somehow sinful to say so out loud?

Did I miss some memo from the virtue-signaling language-police?
