Yes, it is true that we here in Canada are not the same as the US. We have our own fucked up problems here like journalists getting in trouble with the law for criticizing Islam, comedians being fined for making offensive jokes, people being charged for setting up outdoor rallies, street preachers being arrested for preaching on a street corner while some gays assault them, etc. The slippery slope is real. Who is the decider of who's speech is silenced? People will start by saying that they just want to take away the speech of people who want to bring about another Hitler, but then they turn around and want people silenced for saying the wrong thing about Islam, or visited by the police for misgendering someone online. You give an inch, people will take a mile. That's how this always goes. Americans should cherish mostly having the right to free speech while it lasts.
