So without further ado, here are the most popular comedians in the world:
https://writtenfacts.com/most-popular-co...le%206%206.
1 Chris Rock
2 Kevin Hart
3 Tig Notaro
4 Bill Burr
5 Dave Chappelle
6 Jim Gaffigan
7 Jerry Seinfeld
8 Mike Birbiglia
9 Louis C.K
10 Amy Schumer
But we already knew to be skeptical of anything you present as fact.
Looking at that Louis CK entry, I could tell this was out of date. It still talks like he's doing Louie and mentions nothing about his making a perverted ass out of himself. For what it's worth, here's another list more recent: https://www.humorsearch.com/2021-standup...ns-ranked/
Chappelle's at #2, second only to Bill Burr. That said, I'm not sure how someone can objectively rank them, though. Is there some sort of RateYourMusic/TheyShootPicturesDontThey/AcclaimedMusic style consensus ranking of stand-up comedians?
Chappelle at #2 does not make him the top comedian on this list either. IA makes claims that can't be accepted at face value...the topic doesn't matter.

Arguing a great divide between first and second place is rather immature.

Thanks for you insight.
The fact is that IA can't prove Chappelle is the top comedian as he claimed. He makes claims he can't or won't back up.

https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2021/10/07/ma...ime-death/ Explain how his murder has anything to do with homophobia if he was a meth dealer and in a sexual relationship with one of his killers?
You'd think that that would have come up as a motive during the trial. Especially from the prosecution angle. Especially in a state where they hasn't voted for a Democrat for president since the Beatles were still touring. Especially in 1999.
Even if your argument were true (and there's a remarkable amount of dissent about that, even from people who actually knew the three men and/or cops who worked on the case) and homosexuality had nothing to do with Shepard's killing, it became about homophobia because the prosecution claimed it was a hate crime and the defense claimed they were motivated by "gay panic." Arguing that it's not about homophobia is like arguing that there was nothing racist about the murder of George Floyd.

He seems to think they are the same thing. He's far from an expert on this subject and on these terms, but he's certainly not a "radical" feminist in the first place, so he can't be a TERF without first being a radical feminist. In fact, he said he just found out what feminist means, so clearly this isn't an area he's been studying for years or anything. Can people be offended by him calling himself TERF? Sure. He said far worse things in the stand-up special though. Said he enjoyed being raped by a priest. Compared his body fighting coronavirus to black people on the street attacking Asians, basically equating Chinese people with the virus. It's supposed to be offensive, but I don't think Dave actually understands what a TERF really is, and he clearly said he respects trans enough to call them what they want to be called, and he said he's not saying they're not women, but he thinks gender is fact. I believe he means sex AKA chromosomes and body parts are fact, but I'll call you a woman if you want to be called one, which you can call an undereducated opinion, but he's not intentionally being hateful at all to trans people imo.
But yeah, one of the first responses in this thread was about Dave Chappelle thinking trans people were some kind of non human monsters, and this is the kind of nonsense you will hear from many trans activists. "You won't even acknowledge that I'm a human being" and "your speech is violence so you need to be silenced". It's nonsense.
That's not what I said. I said he's taking on a label for himself that has harmful, damaging consequences for real people, popularizing it and validating those who would use it for excluding trans people and invalidating our identities. He may be uneducated, I don't know. Benefit of the doubt and I haven't once said that I thought he himself was targeting trans people or being malicious. But he should be called out for shooting from the hip and giving platform to hateful ideas.
The funny thing is, it's not a joke. There are those people out there who will feel like it's okay now to say they're TERFs and to act on that, because ole Dave "said what we're all thinking; someone finally fucking said it." In this cultural climate, validating this mindset, whether Chapelle understands gender or the term TERF or not, it's not a joke to people who don't conform to the gender binary who are still getting victimized in the U.S. in 2021, and it's not a joke to the radicals who feel like they have a voice and a license now because a mainstream celebrity decides he wants us to laugh about these problems.
I see what you're getting at, and you're right that some are going to see him making fun of adam's apples and what he calls ugly trans chicks and their neo-vaginas and being a TERF and etc, and they could just end up repeating the same type of stuff while actually hating trans people, unlike Dave, but we would have to cancel comedy alltogether and have Hannah Gadsby be the one comedian left in the world, to eliminate all harm caused by comedy. Dave Chappelle only started talking about trans folks in his act around 2019 or whenever it was, because the new PC culture thing going around was that you're not allowed to joke about trans people any longer, and Dave disagreed with this, because he thought anything should be able to be joked about and nothing and nobody should be off the table, which I agree with. He started making jokes about them, to show that he's going to treat them the same as anyone else, and not give them special treatment and put them on the list that is out of bounds to joke about.
During the most recent special, Dave even went as far as to say that trans people being banned from the washroom of their choice was really stupid. Dave has a trans friend that committed suicide after they were bullied online for standing up for Dave, and he seemed pretty torn up over this. He let his trans friend open for him as his opening comedy act for a while. I really don't think Dave dislikes trans people.
Call his language misguided or uneducated, sure, but don't try to get the man deplatformed or cancelled. Give him time to learn. He said he just very recently discovered that men can be feminists too. Clearly he's very green when it comes to this subject, but the special was very funny nonetheless. What about Dave comparing Asians to the virus? Should he be cancelled for that because that might cause more harm to Asians? He said he enjoyed being raped by a priest. Should he be cancelled for that because that could be interpreted as mocking what real victims go through? See what I mean here? Do we just cancel all comedy to protect people? If you say you're a male or female, then I will personally believe you and I think it is 100 % legitimate, but we can't go around canceling everyone that disagrees with our views. It's not healthy, and I don't want to see comedy die a slow death.

Dave Chappelle got the 2nd highest payday earlier in 2016, with $ 60 million, but that was only for three specials. Is there a reason we’re assuming that I’m not acutely aware that there’s a difference between how much money the suits at a company are willing to shell out for somebody and how good their work is right now? Or for that matter, how well it does with the audiences?
Netflix is likely going to give the most money to who they think is going to make them the most money. Chappelle had the biggest deal of all time money wise for comedians with Netflix (before Seinfeld's deal), and he is now also being given millions for the Chappelle show, when he wasn't even supposed to be making any money off of it. Netflix agreed to pay Dave millions for the Chappelle show being streamed, just because Dave told the fans not to watch it and because Netflix wanted to stay on good terms with him. That's how big Dave Chappelle is. Gets millions of dollars for simply making a tweet and not doing any work. Seinfeld's 500 million dollar deal came later, but he does have pretty much the most well known sitcom of all time or close to it, and is a massive name in general, and I don't know if he's just going to be doing stand up or other things for Netflix as well over that five years.

Thank you lol. That part of my post did not even really have much relevance to the point I was making, but arewethereyet likes to nitpick irrelevant things and point them out like she does with Helios' posts. Next I'm going to post "the biggest thing since the Beatles", and she's going to quote me calling me a liar and saying Michael Jackson was bigger lol. She just feels a certain type of way about me because she thinks I'm a pedo because I have a teenage singer in my avatar and she could never get over it or understand how someone could be a fan of a young person's voice without being a pedo. I guess Billie Eilish has like 200 million pedo fans. Makes sense.

Yeah, that's called getting royalties and that's what a creator of a work that's still making money should be doing.

Interestingly, Chapelle's Closer is currently #4 on the Top 10 in the U.S. Today list on Netflix.
Although, I have no personal interest in watching it only because stand-up comedy has never been my thing.

Should be doing, sure, but Dave didn't own any part of the streaming rights, since the contract he signed for the Chappelle Show never mentioned any, since Netflix style streaming did not exist at the time, or for whatever other reason he just wasn't included in streaming rights. They weren't legally required to pay Dave anything, but they recently agreed to pay millions because Chapelle made a comment about it and fans made a fuss over it until Netflix agreed to pay him.
