Umm, not quite.

Here it's mandatory to wear seat belts in cars and animals must also be restrained. It is unlawful to smoke in a car if there is a minor child present (under 18) It is unlawful to strike a child, period.
As far as I'm aware both countries still have rule of law and free elections.

To be fair, rights abrogation arguments are common good objections. I don't think it's going to work, either way. People have been smoking for a very, very long time. It's not just an addiction to nicotine.

Well, not really. Most of that goes into general revenue. Pay for part of the medical expenses smokers incur as direct result of their smoking.
Please don't misunderstand me, a far as I'm concerned, smokers may smoke their brains out. As long as I don't have to pay their medical bills. There are already doctors who will refuse to operate on a smoker.
How much is a pack of 20 in the US? I guess the tobacco lobby is still too powerful to allow the US government to increase the price by say $5 a packet?
Bottom line is; smoke and it will probably kill you. In 2003 I realised that if I did not stop smoking , I was going to die . I'd made several attempts before. The difference the last time was I made a committed decision to stop for my own sake. Cold turkey. The hardest thing I've ever done, even harder than giving up drinking.

Depends on where you are. Cheap here in kentucky, not reds specifically (though they're relatively cheap). Other states have health taxes added on top, I recall giving a kid in Mass dagger eyes when he rang me up years ago.
6 bucks a pack, 5 if you buy by the carton. Actually, 5 bucks as a sin tax sounds about right, I think they were ten something in boston and that was back when they were still 4/5 bucks down south. Thing about sin taxes, is that the people who intend to use that money to pay for this or that know.... no matter what they say, that the tax won't make the consumer stop. If it did, funding for their things would dry up, and that's not why they look to levy sin taxes.
Obviously that's from an american perspective...we don't have universal healthcare to use as a justification.
I had a weirder experience quitting. It was super easy...then one day, I just bought another pack and started again. I guess I expected it to be difficult, that I would have cravings and whatnot, just didn't pan out that way. I doubt that would be the case were I to give up my drink.

I am most certainly NOT a subject of Elizabeth I.

Depends where you live. If you are a citizen of Australia or New Zealand , you have no choice, you are a subject of queen Lizzie.

I was pointing out your numbering error. I’m a subject of Elizabeth II, not Elizabeth I.
