However,I'm a skeptic,and believe all questions must remain open. I avoid claims of certainty as much as I can,as does science.

However,there is no doubt in my mind that the Jesus of the New Testament is pure myth.

You say that you avoid claims of certainty, yet you have "no doubt" that the NT Jesus is a myth! The two statements seem to contradict each other.

Look, I do understand your point, and I am well aware that Science avoids statements of certitude, but there are some things to which I give no credence at all: I am 100% certain the Tooth Fairy does not exist, and 100% certain Jesus never walked on water. I am not prepared to assign even the slightest degree of believability to such things.

Just a few hours ago I got a phone call from an Indian gentleman who said that several pieces of malware had infected my computer and he would like to help me fix the problem. I told him to get stuffed - because I was 100% certain that he was not telling the truth. Was I mistaken? I am 100% certain that I was not.

I am 99.999999999% certain that NT Jesus was total bullshit. I do admit to a lingerint 0.0000000001% doubt that NT Jesus was only 99.999999999% bullshit.

I round to 2 decimal places when deciding what to do with such numbers.

Point taken;I should have been less emphatic. Instead let's say "I'm confident that the Jesus of the Gospel is myth due to the lack of credible evidence to the contrary" OF COURSE I may be wrong,no matter how unlikely I think that may be.

Personal certitude is NOT the same as certainty,,but good enough for daily living.

I've received a similar call,and said some very unkind things*. Pretty sure the guy was trying to scam me. Was I 100% certain? Of course not, but sure enough to act on the belief I was right.
