It's been a damned good distraction, going on seventy some odd years now.
The stats might say that but everything I see on the internet outside of the UFOlogy community is pretty dismissive of the topic. Like, almost universally. People don't believe it for a variety of reasons (from a woeful and conspiratorial misunderstanding like "it's suspicious that the government is confirming it" to the unfortunate but fair "who cares if aliens are real, I have bills to pay.")
Fox constantly talking about Hunter Biden, trans athletes and drag brunches is a distraction. CNN constantly talking about Trump's indictment is a distraction. Barely any media is talking about aliens! Well, hunter bidens massive hog is great for maga types - but they also need something for people like you. I don't know what to tell you about your perception of the world as almost universally dismissive. You might be in a skeptical pocket. Most americans believe in aliens, and that's probably why ancient aliens was one of the history channels most popular shows. Why we'll never see the end of roswell documentaries. They've become part of the fabric of americana - our most successful export. You...and tons of other people, have been conditioned to credulity. It was all over every station when it was still hot...but it ended up flopping because it's a giant nothingburger.
Quote:If what the whistleblowers are alleging is true, then the Pentagon has diverted funds from other projects to study this, not the other way around. You really think the Pentagon needs an excuse to hoard more money?
If you add an asterisk to "study this"..then it wouldn't surprise me. It is funny, though, that they don't really need an excuse, but come up with them and do it anyway, isn't it? Like I keep saying, the conspiracy right in front of our faces...a bureaucratic one, not an alien one. It's not so much an excuse, imo, as a useful bit of theater.

That's how good we've gotten at propaganda. Truth gets lumped in with lies and people feel that they're the same. Not entirely unlike "weather" and "us prototype". The conspiracy right in front of our faces.

Yeah and CNN has been non-stop talking about Trump and all the crimes he's committed for 7 years straight. Not much to say critically about the Biden administration though. And they're more than happy to give superficial bullshit culture war nonsense the light of day, just from the left point of view. Would love for CNN to cover our massive income inequality and how Democrats embrace Reaganomics and how nothing fundamentally changes on the Hill, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Tracks, ofc. CNN isn’t going to criticize our society from the left. They’re the voice of the moderate right.

As they should as so far he hasn't been punished for them
Quote:Not much to say critically about the Biden administration though.
Not really a lot to criticize really considering the mess he's trying to clean up
Quote:And they're more than happy to give superficial bullshit culture war nonsense the light of day, just from the left point of view.
CNN isn't on the left.

That's not really a secret

Not really
Quote:and how nothing fundamentally changes on the Hill.but I don't see that happening any time soon.
So you want them to cover what isn't happening?

A strong piece in the New Yorker about the complete lack of even a single unambiguous photograph of an alien spaceship. The entire "alien" idea has always been a 1940s sci-fi mythology imposed on bad data and ambiguity, just as the FBI concluded in 1948.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
