I think this about the whole thread.
It's not serious any longer.
It should be enjoyed obviously - with a decent sense of humour - but truth is, no one is taking god or any of the questions seriously.
Its basically over.  :-)

That’s the thing about godtalk - Ecclesiastes 1:9.

If you want to believe in something, you can just turn that on and off.

Where did I say that?

I guess I could try explaining how this works, but I'm not going to. It would be like trying to teach Spanish to a cat.

Because it only makes sense to you, right?

I saw the dilema and thought - why not, as a brainteaser :-)
It was a good to work out the question, but i couldn't seem to get the question to make sense without fundamentally changing god.  I had to reimagine god as something else to make the question fit - but then we aren't talking about god any more ??!?!?!  i got into that circle.

A pointless loop, as the question was about goodness, not godness.  God is whatever a god is and whatever is flowing out of a gods wherever is whatever -that- is.

It doesn't matter to goodness whether the thing we were apprehending would be a god anymore instead of a devil..which is, I guess(?), the "bad" version of a god.  Implying that you have a standard that -you- hold gods too.

That you both now apprehend and discuss the question as some sort of trap rather than a softball pitched at either of you - suggests to me, that neither of you feels confidently about the proposition that what is good is whatever flows out of gods wherever...and why should you?

Neither of you think that, and neither do I. We all three think that, if things can be good, and if good stuff came out of gods wherever, it's really good stuff, not just whatever came out of someone's wherever. Caveman specifically invoked a purportedly objective standard to support an explicitly subjective understanding. Delicious. What will you do?

Keep in mind, ofc, that the who enterprise really is doomed - as even if you do wish to say that good is whatever happens to be shining out of gods wherever that's still just one of the widely accepted categories of meaning and import available to anyone regardless of any belief in or about personal and intervening deities. The only thing either of you is deciding is just how hard and how often to kick yourselves and each other in the dick. You both know and understand that there is meaning aside from your god meanings - even if you disagree with those other meanings as the right™ meanings. Hell, all either of you want to tell us about is how you disagree with those things, the trouble is that you sound silly when you try.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

How could you possibly deny it if you wanted to?

Either there are facts about me that make me great, or greatness is whatever comes out of my wherever.
