2024 US Presidential Election
RE: 2024 US Presidential Election
Here is a good explanation from an ex-Trump voter why he changed his mind about him

Quote:In 2016, Trump vs Hilary Clinton was a no-brainer. Trump 100%. I wanted new, fresh ideas from a successful businessman.

As a candidate, Trump promised to:

Hire and appoint the best people.

Repeal ObamaCare and replace it with something much better.

Build a wall between the US and Mexico and have Mexico pay for it.

Push through term limits on Congress.

Nominate SCOTUS judges who will eliminate Roe vs Wade.

Lower taxes for everyone, and more

My concern began with several of his cabinet appointments among them:

Former Governor Rick Perry for Energy. This department’s main job is maintaining and securing the country's nuclear stockpile. Rick was clueless. In fact, in a GOP debate, he proposed eliminating this department, the name of which he forgot during the debate.

Michael Flynn, National Security Advisor. He made it 22 days before being forced to resign due to lying about relationships with foreign powers. He later pleaded guilty and Trump pardoned him.

Mitch McConnell’s wife Elaine Chao for Transportation. It is alleged that she enriched her family’s transportation businesses. She resigned after the January 6 insurrection.

Ben Carson, HUD. It was widely reported that he was clueless about what this department did or how to run it.

Scott Pruitt, EPA. He was involved in several scandals and resigned.

As for his promise to replace and improve ObamaCare, it never happened. Actually, ObamaCare seems to have helped many Americans receive affordable health insurance.

Regarding building the Mexico wall, This led to a government shutdown for 35 days. Finally, Trump raided the military budget for funds. I prefer a rational border and immigration policy to just a wall alone. Trump had both the Senate and House after his election.

Term limits for Congress. Never happened.

Eliminate Roe vs Wade. This he did by placing three Heritage Foundation supported judges on the court. Now states are passing draconian laws stripping women of reproductive rights in many red states.

Lower taxes for everyone. The Trump tax cut went largely to the top earners. It was reported that this will add $10 billion (correction $10 Trillion) to the federal debt over 10 years.

Perhaps the most important reason that I could no longer support Trump was his involvement in the January 6 insurrection and his absolute refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election which he lost. He is also facing prosecution for over 90 specific crimes including financial fraud, insurrection, and mishandling of top-secret documents. He is facing significant prison time, a first for a former President.

During his presidency, I came to view Trump as a pathetic narcissist, who constantly monitored his TV ratings, and opinion polls, and sought retribution against anyone who spoke poorly of him including those who were formerly loyal to him. He also fawned over dictators who were clever enough to flatter him.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Or Cincinnatus, who retired to his farm, after assuring that the plebeians would lose power and political rights.

Nikki Haley, Republican presidential candidate and unabashed racist, was asked at a town hall meeting what she thought was the cause of the American Civil War. Unsurprisingly, she didn't mention slavery in her answer. She said the war was fought over '...the freedoms of what people could and couldn't do.'

Freedom to do what, exactly, Nikki?

Trump Tells His Caucus Captains Other Republicans Will Cheat During Iowa's GOP Caucus

Iowa, a key early primary state, isn't a strong state for Trump. The state's governor, Kim Reynolds, is backing Ron DeSantis rather than the former President. And in a video that went out to his canvassers, Trump claimed that his opponents would cheat.

He urged his caucus captains, "Teach them (voters) how to caucus. Take them in your car on caucus night. If you have to do whatever is necessary, we’ve got to get them in. We got to make America great again. So do whatever it takes. If you do, we will win and win big."

The message continued, "You know, the other side does cheat! And we’re not going to let that happen. We cannot let that happen. But that’s what we need from you. Get in your car, get a lot of people and get down and caucus. Give a great speech for me. I hope you will. And I know you will have such confidence in you as you had in me. And you have in me."

Donald Trump Jr. Wants to See Alex Jones in Father's White House

During the Thursday episode of his podcast Triggered, Trump Jr. speculated about who may work in the White House if his father wins the election. He suggested he would like to see a conservative firebrand such as InfoWars host Jones in the role of press secretary for "two weeks to a month" to "put these idiots in their place."
