Stupid things religious people say
RE: Stupid things religious people say
Mormons arent Christians. Saying Jesus and the devil are eternal brothers is like projecting mortal kombat. Its not true. But i suppose it makes a great bed time story.

Mormons are christian in the same way bogomilists were. Just because they don't follow the same flavour as you, it doesn't make them less christian.

On Jesus and Satan, biblically you're correct. But then again christianity gets Satan all wrong. In reality he's Yhwh's most loyal, faithful and hard working servant who in reward gets all the shitty jobs Yhwh is too lazy to do. He's not the enemy at all. And Yeshua bar Yosef was a random idiot with delusions of kingship.

What do you think this is?

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Holy death? Pilgrimage to death?

In any case, not being a Muslim saves lives.

Quote:Hundreds of Hajj pilgrims die as Mecca temperatures hit 120 Fahrenheit

Hundreds of people have died and thousands have been treated for heatstroke while performing the annual Muslim Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca amid extreme temperatures of up to 49 degrees Celsius (120 degrees Fahrenheit).

Some 165 Indonesians are among the dead, CNN Indonesia reported, citing the country’s Consulate General’s Hajj Management Office in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, at least 41 Jordanians, 35 Tunisians and 11 Iranians have died, according to authorities in each country.

The death toll is likely to rise, as Saudi Arabia and Egypt have yet to release official figures. Additionally, the governments are only aware of pilgrims who have registered and traveled to Mecca as part of their country’s quota – more deaths are feared among unregistered pilgrims.

More than 1.8 million people are taking part in this year’s Hajj, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, according to the Saudi General Authority for Statistics.

While deaths among pilgrims are not uncommon (there were more than 200 last year), this year’s gathering is being held amid particularly high temperatures.

On Monday, Saudi Arabia advised pilgrims against performing the “stoning of the devil” ritual between certain hours after temperatures reached an extreme 49 degrees Celsius (120 degrees Fahrenheit).

Pilgrimage revenues were forecast to average about $30 billion a year and create 100,000 jobs for Saudis when the kingdom attracted around 21 million worshippers annually during the 10-day Hajj as well as the yearlong Umrah pilgrimage, according to official data cited by Reuters. The government is targeting 30 million pilgrims by 2030.

Eventually the Hajj will become nearly impossible as Saudi Arabia gradually becomes less and less habitable.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Obsessed by science? Science works!
Religion only seems to cause arguments.
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Science sees a problem, and works to find its solution.

Religion on the other hand, already has the solution, and does everything its power to cram whatever it can to fit into that solution.

The priest says that people today are obsessed with science but science has no comments on love and friendship which leaves people messed up.

And we all know Christianity's unprofound comment on love and friendship: If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26

But science has a lot to say about love and friendship. Doctors do recommend people to be in love and have plenty of sex as good for their health. Similar with the friendship. In 2023, US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy issued a report saying that loneliness has ill effects that are comparable to smoking fifteen cigarettes a day - meaning that he recommends people to have friends. So that priest is very uninformed on what science says.
