South Korea: '1 million' Christians join anti-LGBTQ+ marriage rally

In Seoul Plaza, Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul Station and Yeouido, with organizers claiming some 1.1 million participants, while police have estimated around 230,000. The rally was organized by an ad hoc committee of Christian groups, including the United Christian Churches of Korea and the Council of Presbyterian Churches in Korea.

The rally, held in the form of a church service, was against the legalization of same-sex marriage and the passage of what participants have claimed is an "unjust law" -- a legally binding ordinance that would ban discrimination against an individual based on one's gender, religion, age, race, academic background or sexual orientation. Different versions of the antidiscrimination ordinance have been proposed since 2011, but none have passed due to fierce opposition, mostly from among the conservative bloc and Christian community.

"Let the people discern how dangerous and totalitarian the fantasy of achieving equality by everyone being the same -- instead of all being equal before God -- is. So that such antihuman law that depresses freedom of the most people would not be passed," read No. 16 of the 100 prayer suggestions distributed by the ad hoc group before the rally.

The group defined the antidiscrimination ordinance as "against the law of nature and order in which the world was created," claiming it represses the freedom of expression, conscience and religion.

It also decried the Student Rights Ordinance adopted by several education offices across the country -- including Seoul -- as "encouraging romantic relations between students of the same sex and leading to sexual humiliation," urging the Ministry of Education to abolish the ordinance.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Christians demand Justin Welby’s resignation after gay sex comment

Christians across the United Kingdom are calling for Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby’s resignation following his comments supporting sexual intimacy in same-sex relationships. They argue that his statements represent a fundamental departure from the Church of England’s doctrine on marriage and sexual ethics.

Welby stated in a recent podcast interview that sexual intimacy is morally acceptable in “stable, committed and faithful” relationships, regardless of gender, sparking backlash from Evangelicals within the denomination who accuse him of openly disregarding Church doctrine.

The Alliance, a collaboration of CofE groups adhering to biblical teachings on sexual ethics, have written to the archbishops and bishops expressing their concerns, as reported by Anglican Ink. They complained that “the correct constitutional process has not been followed for departing from current agreed doctrine or for a change of liturgy.”

The Church of England’s official doctrine states that “sexual intercourse, as an expression of faithful intimacy, properly belongs within marriage exclusively,” defining marriage as a lifelong union between “one man with one woman.” The pastoral guidance set out in 2023 for the Prayers of Love and Faith reiterates this stance, affirming that “it is within marriage that sexual intimacy finds its proper place.”

Same reason anyone else does.  As far as social demography and the marketplace of ideas or religions is concerned...groups that have been traditionally excluded from such things are making a good decision, increasing their purchase, and groups that reject this market are settling for less and less.  We could repeat this with any segment of society or institution.  If you won't take The Gays you will have to settle for whatever is left of the rest, and you won't even have access to all of that.  Just whatever portion is equally obsessed with bigoted nonsense. Ignoring, ofc, that whatever your official policy on The Gays is..your place is still filthy with them.
