Pet Photos thread where too much is never enough.
RE: Pet Photos thread where too much is never enough.
He's back home. They said he definitely has arthritis, but more worrisome is a pretty bad heart murmur, for which we have an appointment next week. Until then, they've prescribed bed-rest, and gabapentin and a steroid.

ETA: The back swelling is, we're told, a fatty deposit and nothing more.

Crossing fingers here for your bedridden member of the family.

I feel for you on the heart murmur issue.  The breed of dogs I have are prone to that.  Karm lived a long time after hers was diagnosed and now Quinn has had one detected that we will monitor.  Hopefully Blacky can get along for a while...controlling his arthritis discomfort should help.  Poor little guy.

I am convinced that if there was a 2 square inch patch of mud in the yard Harley would figure out a way to tap dance in it with all four feet effectively cramming her paws with this sticky black clay that passes for soil here. She would them come in the house and in a matter of seconds would smear it on every bit of floor downstairs...especially the tile in the kitchen where the pawprints show up the best. She is a challenge.

We've put the dog gauntlet down, Lexy still gets past it.

Blackie's doing much better for his immediate pain. We go in Thursday to get the heart murmur examined more deeply.

Groomed the dogs over the weekend.  Harley actually cooperated more than usual.  She wasn't in the mood to have her feet trimmed up so I did what I could while she was cooperative (sort of).  A new person is coming to trip nails on Friday so I have to give the fuzzy feet trimming another go sometime before then.  I am considering making a straight jacket for her.

Very sad that the young lady who was coming here for about a year is moving away from TX so we had to find someone else.  I hope it goes well.

So, today went swell. The new woman came to trim the dogs' nails. She showed up without the company van and with one tool - a Dremel.

As it turns out the Dremel was almost out of charge and I didn't have a cord that would fit it. So even though I moved the grooming table into the house and was all prepped for her, one dog managed to get his nails sorta, kinda trimmed.

I am glad I didn't medicate the nutty one or the neurotic one as I try to use the meds sparingly.

I ordered my own Dremel and will figure it the fuck out if I have to do one paw at a time.

Cripes.

Our cat was so mean at the vet's that they gave my wife a sedative to give her before we brought her in again.

Now we routinely sedate our cat and trim her claws at home, instead of having to wrangle her into a carrier and pay the vet.

I still have the claw marks on my arms from when I tried to push her into a carrier over a decade ago. She likes my wife but not me.
