All the pervert priests should be made to line up while their victims are allowed to kick them in the balls

Cardinal Accused of Hiding Priest Sex Abuse Will Close Pope Francis’ Casket
An American cardinal who was accused of covering up cases of sexual abuse by priests and was later stripped of some duties, is set to play an official role in the ceremonies surrounding Pope Francis’ funeral.
Cardinal Roger M. Mahony, the former archbishop of Los Angeles, will participate in the closing of the pope’s casket at St. Peter’s Basilica on Friday evening and in his burial at the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore on Saturday.
In 2013, internal church personnel files released as part of a civil case revealed that Cardinal Mahony had played a role in covering up cases of sexual abuse by priests.
The documents show that Cardinal Mahony and others worked to protect abusive priests from punishment and withhold evidence of sexual abuse from law enforcement agencies. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the largest in the United States, also sent priests who had molested children out of state for treatment, in part because therapists in California were legally obligated to report evidence of child abuse to the police, according to the documents.
In 2007, the Los Angeles archdiocese agreed to pay $660 million to settle claims from more than 500 victims, the largest settlement for priest sexual abuse at the time. Last year, the church agreed to pay another $880 million to settle abuse claims from 1,353 people.
Advocates for abuse victims assailed the decision to allow Cardinal Mahony to take part in the papal funeral.
“By having Cardinal Mahony ceremonially close Pope Francis’s casket, the Catholic Church has chosen to let a known enabler of abuse perform one last act of cover-up,” Peter Isely, a founder of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, said in a statement.
“Honoring him in this way makes it clear: Nothing has fundamentally changed under Francis’ papacy,” he added.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The Nuremberg defense: the passing of an Irish bishop who oversaw the sexual abuse of children by clergy in Ireland later commented ‘I did my best’. Truth campaigner argues that the cover-up was mandated directly from the Vatican.
Quote:Disgraced former bishop Brendan Comiskey dies aged 89: ‘He operated within a system that directed the cover-up’
The Monaghan native retreated from public life following the publication of the damning Ferns Report which outlined a catalogue of child sex abuse in the diocese over a period of 40 years.
It emerged that Bishop Comiskey had failed to protect children from paedophile priests and failed to report allegations that Fr Sean Fortune had abused a number of children.
He resigned following the airing of a ground-breaking BBC documentary Suing the Pope, which uncovered over 100 allegations of abuse against 21 priests stretching back as far as 1962.
Speaking to the Irish Independent in 2014 about the clerical abuse scandal, he said: “I did my best and it wasn’t good enough and that’s it.”
Outlining his feelings towards Bishop Comiskey, Mr O’Gorman said: “I think people see the individual, the Bishop who behaved badly and orchestrated this cover-up. But the reality of the situation is that Brendan Comiskey and every other Bishop who covered up child sexual abuse and moved priests did so at the direction of the Vatican.
"While he was responsible for his own actions on a personal level on one hand, he complied with the directives from the Vatican in relation to child sexual abuse.

The silent struggle: Nuns speak out against sexual abuse in the Catholic church
Nuns sexually assaulted by priests are one of the last Catholic taboos, but with reports of abuse rising, it is a scandal that will be difficult for the future pope to ignore.
"In the past, the nuns suffered a lot and couldn't talk about it to anyone; it was like a secret," Sister Cristina Schorck told AFP, walking through St Peter's Square with her parents.
After an unprecedented summit at the Vatican on clerical sexual violence in 2019, a series of measures were taken, including lifting the pontifical secret on abuse and an obligation for people to report cases to their superiors.
"It's both still a taboo and something that has progressed" because "it's never been talked about as much as it is today," Sister Veronique Margron, President of the Conference of Religious of France, told AFP.
The slow shift in attitudes is exemplified by the case of the influential Slovenian priest and mosaics artist Marko Rupnik, accused by nuns of sexual and psychological violence against them in the early 1990s.
It was only under pressure that Francis lifted the statute of limitations in 2023 to open proceedings against him.
Laura Sgro, the Italian lawyer for five of his accusers, told AFP that nuns should be better protected "both by states and by canon law", notably by extending the statute of limitations, and said the next pope must act "immediately".
Victims' associations say the Vatican has not done enough, particularly by refusing to remove confessional secrecy.

Clergy molestation survivors concerned and insulted by election of Pope Leo XIV
Groups supporting clergy-molestation survivors say they are gravely concerned and insulted by the election of Pope Leo XIV after he overcame questions about his handling of clerical sexual abuse cases earlier in his career to become the Roman Catholic church’s first-ever US-born leader.
Before Robert Prevost’s ascent to the papacy, he was leading a chapter of the Augustinian religious order in his home town of Chicago when allegations surfaced that a priest and Catholic high school principal under his jurisdiction had molested at least one student as well as kept child-abuse imagery.
Prevost reportedly allowed that cleric to continue in his role despite the allegations, though the Augustinian order later paid a multimillion-dollar settlement to the abuse survivor and in December booted the priest from the order.
Meanwhile, Prevost also did not impede another priest – whose ministry had been restricted in the wake of allegations that he abused minors – from living at an Augustinian residence that was near a Catholic elementary school. And, while serving as a bishop in Peru, Prevost heard from three women who accused two priests there of sexually abusing them as minors and have since claimed there is no evidence that much was done to investigate the cleric.
That history prompted the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (Snap) to file a complaint against Prevost in March under church legislation implemented by the late Pope Francis that provided potential disciplinary measures against bishops who were found to have turned a blind eye to abuse of both children and adults considered vulnerable.
The complaint did not prevent Leo from being elected on Thursday.
“The Catholic hierarchy has not merely mishandled abuse allegations – it industrialized the process,” the SCSA’s statement said. “Pope Leo XIV … was in the rooms for all of it.”

Accused pedophile pastor allegedly sexually assaulted 2 girls at Florida church, telling one, ‘We only live once’
Yersson David Solarte, 33, was busted Wednesday while vacationing with family in Virginia after the underage girls reported the disturbing abuse the depraved clergyman repeatedly inflicted inside IPUL Pentecostal Church in Sanford, Florida, according to the Sanford Police Department.
One girl told police that, on multiple occasions, Solarte forced her to sit on his lap and sexually assaulted her in both his office and the church’s multimedia room, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Miami Herald.
Investigators later identified a second victim, who said the accused predator repeatedly molested her in his office — telling the youngster during one sickening encounter that they were a “couple” after he forcefully kissed her and proceeded to unzip his pants, ignoring requests for him to call her mom.
In a separate incident, the alleged sexual deviant threw himself at the minor during a “juvenile meeting” and declared, “We only live once,” court documents showed.
The young girl also told police that the pastor expressed romantic feelings toward her, and when she rejected his advances, he tried to make her jealous by showing her sister affection.
Police said both girls, whose ages weren’t made public, were last abused on April 7.

‘A demonic monster’: The paedophile priest who fathered a secret child
A high-profile celebrity priest named as a child abuser in a recent report by the Jesuits also fathered a secret child, the Irish Examiner can now reveal.
Pedophile priest Fr Kevin Laheen was one of 15 deceased Jesuits named in the damning report on sexual predators within the order.
The baby boy, also named Kevin, was born in a private nursing home at 17 Earlsfort Terrace on July 3, 1966, and forcibly taken from Dolores Meagher by the nuns who ran the home. He died a number of days later.
Danielle told the Irish Examiner how Fr Laheen "infiltrated our family by manipulation and coercion".
Fr Laheen, who was a high-profile priest in Dublin in the 1960s and worked at a number of private second-level colleges including Belvedere and Gonzaga, was approaching his 50s at the time of the pregnancy. Dolores Meagher was in her 20s. She was married to John Meagher, with three children, when she became pregnant.
She said the despair suffered by her grandmother "was not just about the death of the child, but also the circumstances surrounding the child being taken away immediately by the nuns".
"She was screaming for them to give the baby back to her."
Dolores Meagher was married when she gave birth to Kevin, but Danielle says the baby was accepted by the family.
"My grandfather knew and the marriage carried on, everyone knew. It just seemed to be accepted that he was born and died," Danielle said.
“My grandfather was a devout Catholic. I actually think that Fr Laheen commandeered the family and said this is what is happening. It was an abuse of power.
“There has been 70 years of cover-ups within the order. I dread to think of the number of children that were in contact with Fr Laheen," Danielle said.
“What happened in consequence of the complaints? There is no record of any action being taken against Fr Laheen regarding the complaint raised in 1967. Following the complaint made to the gardaí in late 1999, the DPP decided not to prosecute”.
"The Jesuits were aware of his depravity and chose to move him around, elevating him to a form of clerical of celebrity. He was photographed with Terry Wogan at one point. A full independent investigation is needed into this case.”

Vermont’s Roman Catholic Diocese faces 118 more clergy misconduct claims
Vermont’s Roman Catholic Diocese, now seeking to reorganize its depleting finances in U.S. Bankruptcy Court after settling 67 priest misconduct lawsuits, is bracing for a new wave of child sex abuse claims.
The state’s largest religious denomination paid out $34.5 million to survivors in the two decades between when news of a nationwide scandal broke in 2002 and its filing for Chapter 11 protection last fall.
As part of the bankruptcy process, all pending and future lawsuits have been placed on hold, with Judge Heather Cooper inviting accusers who haven’t reported abuse before to join the case as potential creditors.
As a result, 118 people have submitted confidential claims, records show — almost double the number of previously settled lawsuits.
Seeking “full disclosure and transparency,” abuse claimants are seeking church records detailing not only a reported $35 million tied to the diocese’s headquarters and its state-level holdings but also all the community operations it oversees, starting with 63 parishes with an estimated collective worth of $500 million.
