Chip,
Given the rare instance that you've apparently gone to great lengths to actually provide evidence, I actually wouldn't do you justice if I just took all your work at your word as presented.
So, if you would be so kind as to link your source or sources....
... that'd be great.
Otherwise, I really don't have much to add other than that I really can't take the written word of these people any more than anyone else saying it on top of what LarissaAnne, Tobie, and SleepingDemon have already said.
People even say that Jesus truely existed today despite the fact that these people couldn't possibly know this with any certainty.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925

A label.
But, of course, you do not know the name of the label, Hm?
Furthermore, you confuse the creator of the universe with Jesus.
The Jews wrote nothing about Jesus, they care nothing about Jesus and they are no Christians. Find somebody else to blame for Christianity.
As regards the Jews and their writings, they had the courage and the intelligence to transform their oral traditions into the history of their nation.
At that time, my ancestors (ancient Greeks) had just acquired a writing system and they were recording unprocessed raw traditions. How about your highly intelligent ancestors? Did they already possess a writing system and what was that they had been recording?

ok then how would you catigorize this belief? it's not physical that's for sure. i believe it is a spiritual belief b/c God is spiritual and how can you have an opinion about something spiritual if it's not you don't hold any spiritual beliefs? it's like saying you don't believe in politics but you still vote.
passionatefool Wrote:The "belief" that there is no god or deity is the lack of spirituality
how can you dabate religion without taking a side? how can you take a side on religion without holding a religious belief?
passionatefool Wrote:To think or belief there is no god make it a religion, then you have a lot of religions. You are abuddha, avisnu, and so on, and all of your nonbelief in each of these deities make it a religion, so you are not a protestant, you have many religions.
no, believing in one god and not another is not the same as believing there is no god. saying athism isn't a belief is like saying 0 isn't a number. just b/c it's not possitive or negative does not mean it's not a number.
but you do hold a good arguement passionatefool
Um, chipan? Theism isn't a religion, either.

Religious people like to put people in boxes. For example, Christians like to think they can put atheists in the same box as muslims.
I'm not happy about it. I want my own box.
In fact, I don't like boxes at all.
Who invented the box rule?

So do a lot of atheists. I think it's more a human than religious trait.
I most certainly don't put you in the same box as a Muslim. In fact I don't put all Muslims in the same box,or all Americans, all Aussies or even all atheists.
I take people as I find them. That most of the religious apologists here are dropkicks is not necessarily because of their personal superstitions. I'm fairly confident they would be dropkicks regardless of their beliefs. My personality didn't change after I became an antheist; I've always been a fairly obnoxious, opinionated prick. The only difference is today I'm older.

Why are you still talking to me again? I do not care what the isrealites believe in now, what they cared about then, or what it is you think I actually said. It isn't antisemitism, there were several other cultures two thousand years ago which would have been better for the birth of a mangod who boasted to be the creator of the universe, but instead he came to the desert, where the vast majority of residents were wholly uneducated and highly superstitious. The entire middle east was centuries behind every other culture on the planet. They still are. From the middle east spawned all of the abrahamic religions, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.
My ancestors were scottish, so around that time i'm relatively certain my ancestors were butchering each other over small squats of land. It is, however, irrelevant to the conversation at hand.
And furthermore, every civilization turned their oral traditions into the history of their people, that's what heritage is. This isn't something unique.

Inevitable, rarely is the pink
It's a bit harder than one might think
The person must be terrible with evil stink
He must be foul enough to make the devil blink
To troll and flame he must write with digital ink
Lower than the lowest he must sink
Then comes a moderator, stern and coy as a mink
They evaluate the troublesome lad; should he be banned or just thrown in the gauntlet's rink?
Ignorant or Intellectual, he can stay if not a fink
He just needs to avoid acting like a stupid dink
We've after all dealt with far worse who came to tink
than throw people out just because basic facts they couldn't link

That was actually quite good.

Just seems chip is striving in that direction. Pity.
