White House is partnering with PragerU as a substitute for PBS.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting announced last week that it would shut down after Congress voted to claw back over $500 million of federal funding from the organization. The announcement imperils local PBS and NPR stations around the country that have provided news and educational content for kids for nearly half a century.

Amid the stripping of these federal funds, last month, the White House debuted a new educational partner at its launch event for its new Founders Museum exhibit: PragerU, a nonprofit organization that specializes in creating right-leaning educational short videos for adults and children. Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon introduced the partnership, followed by PragerU CEO Marissa Streit.

Those are some of the lessons included in PragerU Kids videos, an educational entertainment program created by PragerU, a right-wing advocacy group long criticized for its content being “misleading” or factually inaccurate.

Among the PragerU Kids videos making the rounds on social media is one called “Leo & Layla Meet Frederick Douglass,” in which a pair of children go back in time and meet an animated depiction of Frederick Douglass. In the video, Douglass, an abolitionist who devoted his life to anti-slavery efforts, describes slavery as a compromise between the Founding Fathers and the Southern colonies for the benefit of the U.S. The depiction also criticizes fellow abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison.

It's part-and-parcel with the attacks on university programs and the Lincoln Center, and yes, the refusal of the victims to fight back signifies their defeat. The same might be said about the media after the WaPo threw its staff under the bus and Paramount. Democrats, deans, CEOs ... when is anyone going to have the balls to fight?

Reminds me of Lincoln's support of Grant: "At least he fights." Where's our fighters? The Texas Dems are making a good show, but I'm not sure that will matter. The town-hall detractors make some headlines, but where's the traction?

Not enough to matter. My sense is that what resistance exists is largely the "someone else has more time to deal with this" sort. There's a lassitude that's disturbing, an idea that Trump is only a passing storm, which I obviously don't agree with even if my ability to march is hampered by my disability.
