Now of course, the question is how long will people let Trump bully them? What will be the triggering point? I guess people usually suffer and wait until the elections.

Therein lies the complacency. The assumption that there will be free and fair elections going forward when we have obvious attempts to stack the deck even as I write this post is unjustified.

Beat me to it. It looks like the window of opportunity to stop the Repugnicans from either rigging the midterms or eliminating them completely is going to be narrow. If they succeed, violence will be the only solution we have left.

Trump is getting the people used to the idea that Democratic cities require a military presence, probably permanently. Then comes the coup.

I am willing to bet that 30% of the U.S. population would welcome a coup. They have been taught that the Democrats are evil and must be stopped at any cost. They will be told it isn't really a coup, but rather a prevention of a coup by the other side.

The ones that don't want the coup won't matter. Only the military matters. Sorry, U.S. - your democracy is done. You gave up on it.

Look at what's going on here in Texas, using redistricting to add more Republican seats to the House of Representatives -- and California's response to do the same in favor of the Dems.

This arguing over control of the House is precisely one of the major issues that led to our Civil War in 1861. Different shades and hues, but the painting is very much the same. The sides are lining up.

The popular comparison seems to be 1920s and -30s Germany, but I think the more accurate assessment is found in 1840s and -50s American domestic politics. There are of course big differences in all three comparisons, but in terms of our domestic politics, our domestic strife in the mid-19th century seems more apt, although in our current context fascism across the entire country rather than splitting seems more likely as the end result.

Why? Will fascists disappear after trump second term? Fascism is a plague that can never be truly eradicated I'm afraid as it speaks to tribal instincts and shows vision of glorious past restoration of which is just around the corner to gullible masses. It's idiotic, abhorrent and as ideology favoring strength thoroughly delegitimized by its military defeat but followers are just as idiotic and abhorrent so they will fall on the same lies every time.

Fascism is bullshit devoid of substance, lies covering nothingness at it's core but I'm afraid that there is no reason to think that it can be permanently defeated.

Truth Social's AI Chatbot Fails To Read The Room

President Donald Trump’s social media platform Truth Social is a safe space for him and his movement, an autocrat-friendly network where the president’s posts — which are called “truths” on the platform — are praised effusively and largely go uncontested.

But Truth Social rolled out a new AI chatbot on the platform last week that is apparently failing to read the room. When prompted for information, it shares plenty of truths that contradict or discredit the president.

Truth Search AI undermined Trump by saying that "tariffs are a tax on Americans, the 2020 election wasn’t stolen, and his family’s cryptocurrency investments pose a potential conflict of interest." When asked to verify Trump's claim on Truth Social that crime in Washington, D.C., is "totally out of control," the bot cited government statistics and said there were in reality "substantial declines in violent crime" in D.C. — and even italicized the word declines.

I played around with Truth Search AI myself and had a similar experience. I asked it to describe what happened at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. In contrast to Trump's "day of love" narrative, Truth Search AI said, "It was a violent breach of the U.S. Capitol by a pro‑Trump crowd that disrupted Congress’s certification of the 2020 Electoral College results, resulting in assaults on police, injuries, property damage, and hundreds of criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to felonies." When I asked if it was appropriate to describe that as an insurrection or a coup, it responded, "Based on standard definitions, January 6 is best described as an attempted insurrection rather than a successful coup; it can also be framed as a failed coup attempt because the goal was to disrupt the lawful transfer of presidential power, but it lacked the organized seizure of state levers typical of coups."

Despite Trump claiming that crime in DC is ‘out of control’, crime in the city is actually down sharply.

Crime at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, however, is at an all-time high.
