I don't think he wants peace in Ukraine. I think he wants to look like the adult in the room while at the same time doing his master's bidding.

Yakutia is a large Asiatic republic of Russia which has been shouldering a large part of the manpower requirements -- and losses -- in Putin's war. This can only aggravate the already-present sense of grievance amongst the non-white Russian population ... and there's no way to hide it.

Fuck Putin with a rusty spoon. Maybe the chump will felch it out after he dies.

Of course. They're facing serious economic problems. You need a healthy economy to maintain a big war for years. He wants to declare victory before the economy collapses and takes his regime down with it.

I think that will happen even if the war gets settled, because they owe everyone and the barking grandma money, and who will want to invest in such an arbitrary system? Some but not many is my bet.

Yeah, I really don't like how outside parties, especially where there is an incestuous relationship, talking about how to divvy up what doesn't belong to them in the first place. Not surprised. I am ashamed of/for the US in the current situation, both here and abroad.

It goes back to @Belacqua 's comment that Trump would force peace on Ukraine. It's a dumb idea because you can't force anyone to surrender until they themselves feel the costs outweigh the benefits. Ukrainians are largely against the current "peace plan", in my opinion because they feel it's one cooked up between DC and Moscow and then being foisted upon them.

(Bold mine)

Exactly that. If Ukrainian soldiery felt that way, the war would have ended long ago. History is check-to-jowl with examples of people with munitions expressing their displeasure with governments in a variety of noisy ways.
