.... And he keeps digging
There is no misconception, when you call Ukraine one of the most corrupt countries, while Russia is one of the most corrupt countries and Ukraine improves to being mediocre while fighting a war for survival.
There is no misconception when you claim elections in Ukraine are prevented after having been told this is not possible according to it's constitution.
There is not misconception when you invoke two equally bad diseases in the context of a country being invaded, twice, by another country.
There is no misconception when you are either Russian or spreading Russian propaganda.

The reflexive control campaign requires people to be worried that russia might do something terrible, so it would be better to simply give them what they want. Imagine telling a ukranian that they ought to surrender before russia does something terrible.

According to NBC News, Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll says that “Inevitable defeat awaits Ukraine."
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-h...rcna245704
The New York Times reports that
Quote:Mr. Driscoll believes that the war must be settled soon, including on terms more favorable to Russia, because Ukraine’s military is near a breaking point.
In part I think that these statements are intended as self-fulfilling prophecy. The US could keep the war going a while longer if it wanted to. But Driscoll announcing that it's time to wind things down is a way of telling us that it's going to go that way.
The Times of London says that Kiev won't last until spring.

I notice that you did not respond to my post #6140.
I also notice that you will not address my point that so long as Ukrainians want to fight, even battlefield defeat would likely result in an insurgency Russia simply cannot afford.

What, Trump's administration (you know, the ones who colluded with Russia ever since before the elections) are on the Russian side! Color me shocked. Trump has been trying to sacrifice Ukraine for his own profit ever since he became the president, but he still hasn't succeeded.

Wow, The Times of London published some guy's opinion, I guess Ukraine should surrender now to a country that caused the Holodomor genocide.
Meanwhile, Putin is so desperate to find soldiers that he is sending mentally ill people, North Koreans, prisoners, and people who came to work in Russia and were tricked into going to war, and is now raising even more taxes on Russians, thus sinking Russian economy.
Meanwhile, Belacqua, since you are so worried about Ukrainians, keep in mind that Ukraine stood strong against all odds in Feb 2022, led by Zelensky; Russia barely advanced the frontline since their defeat in Kyiv; Ukraine has liberated more land than has lost since.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The Times hasn't been worth bothering with since Murdoch bought it...

Meanwhile, the 13 years' of military expenditures in Ukraine have left other branches of the Russian military much less capable:
Quote:Russia has suffered a failed Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) test after a launch at the Yasny range in the Orenburg region ended in an explosion only seconds after liftoff.
The missile rose roughly 200–400 meters before detonating in midair and crashing back to the ground, leaving behind a visible purple toxic cloud.
The incident occurred at the Yasny launch site, a location that hosts both a cosmodrome and a base for Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces. It is one of the few facilities in the country capable of launching long-range missiles, including intercontinental ballistic missiles equipped with nuclear warheads.

This makes both Medvedev's saber-rattling and Western hand-wringing over escalation look silly.

In the world of geopolitics, this is known as, ‘I need to say SOMETHING that will keep Trump from firing me.’ You can find earlier versions (only slightly altered) in both Il Principe and Vom Kriege.
