Here's an idea Zak: go and set up your very own forum, then you can be the ruler of your own little kingdom and set whatever rules you want there. If you want to be treated fairly and not have people laughing at you, you really must learn to play nicely and stop stamping your foot when you can't get your own way. Well actually,you have no rights here. You have privileges you get to keep as long as you obey our rules,just like anyone else. You do not get to set any conditions. In formal debates rules are mutually agreed.

How am I being immature? I am just sticking to the rules of any debate. I have watched many debates and they are moderated closely. I was expecting a series of arguments on this thread but it just turned to insults and mocking.

Posting links is fine. Go watch some Bassam Zawadi debates and he always recommends his opponents to go on links.

I didn't say anything about forums. I said I want to make my own thread and set rules on the debate. I can do that since it's my own thread. It's like i'm trying to tell people to don't insult or else I will ban them.

This just so happens to be a forum. The etiquette rules of other methods of communication have no bearing. Furthermore, the only rules in this forum are the rules of this forum.

You were already told that you can start a formal debate with another participant. However, that is in another area of the forum and must be set up by an administrator. You do not get to make the rules there, either. They must be agreed upon.

Look Zakir. Posting links is fine as long as it is a link to sources that support your argument. The problem is you haven’t presented an argument. All you have done is point to other people’s arguments. (At least I assume they are arguments but maybe not.) If you want anyone here to take you seriously then present your case in your own words. If it is a valid argument then someone might debate them with you.

I clearly did not. You repeatedly stated that it being your thread and you being a "guest," you get to make the rules for this conversation. You also said that you should get to make the rules for the conversation in another hypothetical thread on the same topic. I am telling you that is not the case.

I should point out to you that you are not a guest here. You are a member. Every member has the same standing here in terms of rules. When it comes to threads, the author of the thread does not get to dictate the terms of the conversation . . . ever. They have no sort of ownership over the thread, save that their posts may be their intellectual property in some cases.

Okay. I will admit that I did go over the top by just giving out links. Though I didn't do at the start. E.g. with the moon split, I clearly explained that were witnesses and then Provided evidence for it.

The thing is if I just explain something, posters will request for links as back up so I thought it may be a good idea to just give them links for proof.

By the way, I was told I can copy and paste words from a link as long as I keep it tidy in here.
